Abel had TJ surgery. Britton had TJ surgery. Rasmussen had two TJ surgeries. Fehmel had dead arm at some point in every season. Mulholland had surgery after 2019. Verburg had surgery and had half the career he should have. John Pomeroy threw 95+ but could never find the plate. Luke H had a dead arm in the 2018 CWS. Gambrell was ineffective for much of what should have been a great career. Sam Twedt had TJ surgery. Andrew Walling never developed. Burns was wildly inconsistent. Eisert had arm problems and was shut down by the Jays after they drafted him. Dakota Donovan got fed up from lack of use and transferred. Mitch Hickey flamed out because of injuries. Jace Fry had TJ surgery. Trent Shelton and Kevin Flemer never developed and transferred, and had success at Cal Poly and Cal. Dan Child flamed out. Adam Duke was one of the best recruits in our history and he left. Same with Chandler Eden. James Nygren was totally misused. Taylor Starr had TJ surgery, Josh Osich was always injured. Compare Christian Chamberlain's brief 2020 season to his 2018 and 2019 numbers. Night and day. The list goes on and on. Sometimes I think it's amazing we did as well as we did under NY, considering the carnage. Adam Duke had a shoulder problem after his first season with OSU. The reports said he left the Knights for a planned family thing, but I think the family thing was rotator cuff surgery. I don't think he ever pitched again anywhere. I could be totally off base and some other factor came into play, but the shoulder is what I heard. Great arm. Adam Duke had rotator cuff surgery in the 2011-2012 offseason. He was at Oregon State until at least 2014, but he never saw the field after the 2011 season.

I think the issue was a 2 headed monster. The offense did not score consistently so the pitching staff had to try to be precise while the pitching staff gave up too many leads so the batters tried to do too much at times. Another year under MC's coaching will tell the tale if this will trend up or down. Also, a solid incoming class and transfers will show what kind of recruiters the coaching staff really is. Man. Oregon State's offense in three games against Dallas Baptist: 5 runs 5 runs 5 runs Oregon State's pitching staff in three games against Dallas Baptist: 6 runs 4 runs 8 runs If Oregon State's pitching staff gives up 6+ runs, the Beavers lose against Washington, Mississippi State and Arkansas in 2018 and Minnesota and North Carolina each take Oregon State to extras. The problem, to me, is that Canham did not trust his pitchers and made some puzzling moves. He was late to figure out the offense. Losing Melton hurt a lot. The pieces were all there. Mitchy Slick just never figured out how to put 'em together. You keep trying, but “Mitchy Slick” is never going to catch on, even among the “Fire Canham” crowd. Use his name like a reasonable person.

And some are happy just to dance with anyone, since that’s the reason you came in the first place. My general reaction to every season without a new, shiny trophy is as follows: Yeah, because movie clips are an accurate depiction of real life. Now show us some ones where the geek marries the supermodel. Or where the pioneer woman picks off the Indian from 75 yards using a pistol.

Success brings expectations. Sometimes those expectations are unrealistic.....sometimes even dominant programs lose their mojo.....see USC baseball....my only point is OSU baseball has no guarantee to stay relevant in baseball.
Looking to the future, I can see the quacks more competitive year in, year out......PC was always a step ahead of Horton, but I think Wasikowski is a really good, hungry coach. This year's quacks squad over-achieved, and they have really good recruiting classes coming.
Mitch has his work cut out for him to keep us on top, in the state of Oregon. The Nike machine never sleeps..... For now, I trust Mitch and his young lions to keep us competitive.....and as we saw, our guys showed resilience in the face of adversity, especially on Sunday.....Monday, the moment was too big for them.....but thats baseball. The key is to get your guys in a mental state like Sunday more often than Monday.

If you are going to have to play 5 games in 4 days, you needed a lot more innings out of your starters in the first three games.

Sure it's their 5th game in 4 days....everyone's gassed.....but beyond that, you could see our guys' approach was not "we are the gauntlet!".....it felt more like, "oh crap, these guys have hit 95 homers so far, and they arent swinging at pitches out of the zone". You could see it unfolding before your very eyes.....so I'm not gonna buy we were "gassed" as the ultimate reason for the meltdown.....I mean s%#t, our bats went completely dead too....we've seen this movie several times this season....the whole team tightens up....but again, it's baseball, and these are kids. We can only hope these battles harden them for future battles so they dig a lil deeper.....find the Nickerson in themselves...or Kevin Abel in the '18 CWS

When you're tired, you lose your mechanics and your control. That's what I saw.

I think we are splitting hairs here.....either way, we didn't get it done and on our end it was a huge meltodown. On DBU's end it was huge comeback.....kudos to them. They are a solid squad.

I don't think the poster in question is using that nickname as a sign of respect. Nor was he a teammate. It's straight snark.

I was out of the country during that period; never even saw Canham play ball. And I think I've barely "listened" to that song once. Just not my thing. Thanks for cluing me in though. And wilkyisdashiznit, I apologize. It'd be easier to accept if you weren't always using it in a derogatory manner, though.

Your tongue is either firmly in your cheek, or you need a nice rest. Someplace quiet. Non-stressful. Soothing music. Sip on a good bourbon, or your choice of an adult beverage. Maybe, a fine cigar. Chill. Good advice

You keep trying, but “Mitchy Slick” is never going to catch on, even among the “Fire Canham” crowd. Use his name like a reasonable person. In case you're unaware, Mitchy Slick is a call back to the O State Ballaz song/video lyrics from 2007. The original O State Ballaz by Mitchy Slick came out in 2006, which is the song in the video. The video itself uses pictures and videos from 2006 and 2007. The reference at the end of the song "And Texas, you're about to get your ring 'bout to getting their ring took" is a reference to the Longhorns winning the 2005 National Championship. Great song! It was ballsy for Mitchy Slick to say that the Beavs were going to win the National Championship, but he did it. Gundy coming out and saying that Oregon State was going to win it the next year after 2005 ended. Ballsy. I love Gundy and Mitchy Slick. Phenomenal players and on-the-field leaders. There are no questions about it.

I don't think the poster in question is using that nickname as a sign of respect. Nor was he a teammate. It's straight snark. I did not play ball with Mitchy Slick, although I have been told that I bear a passing resemblance to Dallas Buck, which I am pretty sure is not a complement. Mitchy Slick is about four years younger than me. I have a good friend, who was on the 2007 and 2008 teams and have a second (or third?) cousin who was on the 2006-2008 teams. I don't know Slick, but he is an awesome guy from what I have heard. I do not use Mitchy Slick as a sign of disrespect at all. Mitchy Slick was an awesome catcher and an all-around great guy, who had to deal with a lot in his first 25 years. To see him doing so well is great. He is a much better guy as a person than say a Nate Yeskie from what I have heard. But I worry that Nate Yeskie is a better recruiter, developer and coach of pitchers. His loss cannot be overstated. I hate losing close games. Something was wrong this year. I am hoping that Mitchy Slick gets the ship righted. I am very pleased with the caliber of players that Mitchy Slick is recruiting. I still worry about developing and managing pitchers, though. We are all rooting for the same team. Now that we are here, I want Mitchy Slick to succeed. I still remain concerned that Scott Barnes messed this one up.

I am critical of Mitchy Slick, especially as it concerns developing and managing pitchers, especially in close games. I am hoping that he rights the ship.
