I wonder if Yeskie was still on the staff or even as HC if the pitchers would have been handled better or even more focused. Arizona has really improved with him down there. Do Not Feed the Animals!!

I think the issue was a 2 headed monster. The offense did not score consistantly so the pitching staff had to try to be precise while the pitching staff gave up too many leads so the batters tried to do too much at times. Another year under MC's coaching will tell the tale if this will trend up or down. Also, a solid incoming class and transfers will show what kind of recruiters the coaching staff really is.

Abel had TJ surgery. Britton had TJ surgery. Rasmussen had two TJ surgeries. Fehmel had dead arm at some point in every season. Mulholland had surgery after 2019. Verburg had surgery and had half the career he should have. John Pomeroy threw 95+ but could never find the plate.
Luke H had a dead arm in the 2018 CWS. Gambrell was ineffective for much of what should have been a great career. Sam Twedt had TJ surgery. Andrew Walling never developed. Burns was wildly inconsistent. Eisert had arm problems and was shut down by the Jays after they drafted him. Dakota Donovan got fed up from lack of use and transferred. Mitch Hickey flamed out because of injuries.
Jace Fry had TJ surgery. Trent Shelton and Kevin Flemer never developed and transferred, and had success at Cal Poly and Cal. Dan Child flamed out. Adam Duke was one of the best recruits in our history and he left. Same with Chandler Eden. James Nygren was totally misused. Taylor Starr had TJ surgery, Josh Osich was always injured.
Compare Christian Chamberlain's brief 2020 season to his 2018 and 2019 numbers. Night and day.
The list goes on and on. Sometimes I think it's amazing we did as well as we did under NY, considering the carnage.

If Dorman can get results without losing arms, so much the better!

107 113 127 104 113 120 125 115 124 63 59 86
These numbers are the pitch counts for our ace in 2018 from April 13-June 26.
The first 7 games he averaged 115.6 pitches on the way to the Corvallis Regional.
After the Regional and Super Regional his pitch counts for the 9 games went to 116.4
The 3 starts in Omaha dropped his pitch count to 104 over the 12 game period.
Heimlich never suffered a major arm injury, but he was shot for the CWS.
20 starts while throwing 2098 pitches(105 average) was a bit much.

Part of me agrees with ironbeav. You can't be happy just standing on the dance floor. Your goal should be to dance with the hottest lady and take her home. Seems that some here are just happy standing.

Seems that some here are just happy standing. I totally disagree. Nobody is happy about today, least of all the staff. We always want to win the CWS. But realistically that's impossible because we won't always have a team that is capable of winning the title, like this year. And if you're going to respond like he did every year you don't win the title, you're a total fool and worthy of the opprobrium, scorn and contempt of your fellow man.

Seems that some here are just happy standing. I like the 2021 Regional better than the 2019 Corvallis Regional. Remember that one? We lost to Cincinnati and Creighton 0-2 and out. Nobody is "just happy standing" but some of us understand that most of the players from 2017-2018 are gone. Those player hogged a lot of playing time during those years. The 2019 team losing a home regional and having a coach for one year didn't help. Covid stopped the 2020 season after 15 games. Hard to develop players with a season that short. I would like to know what the Canham critics were doing in 2008,2009,2010,2011,2012,2014,2015,2016,& 2019. After the 2005-2007 run it seemed like we were treading water for many of the following seasons. If the hot lady on the dance floor is a trip to Omaha. Good luck with maintaining that standard every year. Lady Omaha has many suitors and she only dances with the best.

Some of us like to watch good baseball. We understand that a NC requires talent, coaching and luck. The baseball gods are fickle bastards. Our most talented team did not win a NC, and our 07 team squeaked into the tourney and won the thing in dominant fashion.

Oregon State's offense in three games against Dallas Baptist: 5 runs 5 runs 5 runs Oregon State's pitching staff in three games against Dallas Baptist: 6 runs 4 runs 8 runs If Oregon State's pitching staff gives up 6+ runs, the Beavers lose against Washington, Mississippi State and Arkansas in 2018 and Minnesota and North Carolina each take Oregon State to extras. The problem, to me, is that Canham did not trust his pitchers and made some puzzling moves. He was late to figure out the offense. Losing Melton hurt a lot. The pieces were all there. Mitchy Slick just never figured out how to put 'em together.

The reports said he left the Knights for a planned family thing, but I think the family thing was rotator cuff surgery. I don't think he ever pitched again anywhere. I could be totally off base and some other factor came into play, but the shoulder is what I heard. Great arm.
