Top of the ninth for the Beavers Claunch fouls out to right, one away Forrester walks, one on Froemke pinch hitting, strikes out, two away Ober base hit to center, Forrester to third Pitching change Armstrong hits into a fielder's choice, Ober out at second 6-4
Beavers fall 8-5
And that concludes the 2021 season

Retrospectively, we needed an Abel to come in and throw 3-4 innings to start off the game to start us off. Then, we could have closed it out. Pulling Watkins for Salgado was a blunder and every decision since has only made this worse. Correction: We needed our lockdown Friday night guy to come in and give us a few solid innings. Only one problem: We don't have one. Abel certainly doesn't fit the bill. And even if he did, there's no way anybody's over-using him in the postseason again.... We didn't really have a lockdown pitcher all season. A bunch of guys had moments, but overall there was a real lack of consistency. Didn't get 5 innings out of a starter all regional.

Abel indeed dig the team a few holes this season. Not what you want from a Fri. nite guy.

DBU certainly deserved this. Big time comeback.
But big-time fail by the NCAA to give a #3 seed what have essentially been home games. Only 24 miles between DBU and TCU; the other 15 seeds had to travel hundreds of miles to unfamiliar surroundings, while they got a pass. Over five days that's a big factor.
I'm sure TCU wasn't thrilled to see them as a No. 3 either. They should have just flipped Fairfield, the No. 3 at the Texas regional, and DBU. Would have been much fairer.
Frustrating season. I think we overachieved, but it's tough to have it end this way, feeling like we underachieved today. Our fifth-year seniors, except for Army, really disappointed and Abel took a huge step back. We are in real need of some roster turnover. Some guys stayed to long and got stale.

This is why losing game 1 results in losing the regional 93% of the time. At the end of 5 games in 4 days, our pitching ran out of gas (and many of these guys already had serious deficiencies, which we saw on display at various points. It's telling that Hjerpe came in before Mully today). We have nothing to hang our heads about. Proud of these guys for giving it their all, and going as far as this group of guys is likely to go. I think our future is bright. GO BEAVS! I agree. Given that the coaches need to adjust to the vulnerbilities of college players, they had good moments. Pat's retired and there is no second coming. Stop sounding like whiny Blazer fans and look to the future. Mom coming in hot!

Okay - let’s just forget this and look at some potential positives for next year . Lots of young guys that got some great experience ! The defense was sold most of the time , we need some new strike throwing junk ball pitchers and our bats look pretty solid . We lose Armstrong , Ober ... and, maybe Claunch ! 2022 NC , or bust ! Go Beavers !

The lack of consistency in pitching is the only thing the coaches could count on. On alternate outings, pitchers would be either pounding the zone, or walk machines. And you could never guess who would do what. Salgado was untouchable until 2-3 weeks ago, Mundt and Burns were unhittable yesterday, today they walked everyone who didn’t hit one out of the park. Our all-time saves leader wasn’t asked to come in and get a key out with the game on the line… that tells you a lot. And I don’t think anyone really questioned the call.

Well that was a full immersion courtesy of our Baptist friends. Somehow, I don't feel redeemed. Good luck to them in the Supers.

PC punching a wall somewhere. Coaching staff has a terrible feel for the game. Says the guy who named himself after a row boating moron.

This game was sort of a microcosm of a few losses that really hurt ..... we started out well but got gut punched by the GS. Just too big a hole to dig out of after losing the first game.....though our pitchers did well in Games 2 thru 4.......they didn’t have it this game. It was there for the taking

If all the juniors return next season will have a monster roster to trim.
