I disagree. We aren't the hitters that they are. Our strength was supposed to be pitching. Their bats and patience at the plate outdid our pitching. That's life. Our staff is gassed after 5 games in 4 days. Good pitching too often depends on either getting the ump to call the strikes or fooling the batters into swinging. When the ump has a tough zone and the batters are patient, it's tough. Gotta pitch to contact like they've been doing.

In 2018, Oregon State was down by three in the eighth, Taylor started with a base hit. Madrigal singled. Grenier walked. Larnach struck out. Rutschman hit a bases-clearing double to tie the game. Malone struck out. Kwan was intentionally walked. Gretler walked the bases full, and Anderson walked in Rutschman for the lead. Mully stranded a runner on second.
We need that 2018 magic here.

This is why losing game 1 results in losing the regional 93% of the time. At the end of 5 games in 4 days, our pitching ran out of gas (and many of these guys already had serious deficiencies, which we saw on display at various points. It's telling that Hjerpe came in before Mully today). We have nothing to hang our heads about. Proud of these guys for giving it their all, and going as far as this group of guys is likely to go. I think our future is bright. GO BEAVS! I agree. Given that the coaches need to adjust to the vulnerbilities of college players, they had good moments. Pat's retired and there is no second coming. Stop sounding like whiny Blazer fans and look to the future.

Retrospectively, we needed an Abel to come in and throw 3-4 innings to start off the game to start us off. Then, we could have closed it out. Pulling Watkins for Salgado was a blunder and every decision since has only made this worse.

They are who we thought they were. I disagree. We aren't the hitters that they are. Our strength was supposed to be pitching. Their bats and patience at the plate outdid our pitching. That's life. The Beavers loss today (and wouldn't be SWEET if this doesn't 'age' well) was at the hands of a very resilient team. We 'used to' hope for a Beaver Win / Virginia Win resulting in a Eugene (Beaver) Super Regional.... ...Now I'm thinking (not hoping) that a DBU win / Virginia win might reward DBU with a Fort Worth Super. Beavs accomplished plenty in 2021. DBU was just better (at least they are today through 7-2/3 innings).

You walked 10 guys. Walk 10 guys you deserve to lose. It's not that complicated. The pitchers couldn't throw strikes and they paid for it.

Wow, what a way to finish. The bullpen is going to be known as "The Plank" in my household.

Sounds like we “re-gifted” the BOBs that allowed us to win last night. Re-gifting SUCKS.

Pulling Watkins for Salgado was a blunder and every decision since has only made this worse. Correction: We needed our lockdown Friday night guy to come in and give us a few solid innings. Only one problem: We don't have one. Abel certainly doesn't fit the bill. And even if he did, there's no way anybody's over-using him in the postseason again....
