No matter what happens tomorrow, the Beavers showed a lot of resiliency today by winning two one run games. Could have folded at certain times but hung in there and came out on top. You’re right. This team has come a long way in a short time. I’m impressed. And most of all, happy!!!

We got some really good pitching today. Only 3 or 4 ER in 18 innings. Solid starts by #3 and #4 starters against good hitting teams.

Mundt had not pitched more than two innings in any game this year. He'd pitched two innings just two days before. In his three previous appearances his ERA was 23+. The guy you brought in was a fifth-year senior All-American closer. There were left-handed hitters coming up. If Mundt would have faltered, you'd have been bitching for Mulholland. Besides, Mitch would be employing minor-league strategy. He didn't coach for the Mariners. As for walking the guy Verburg pitched to, you don't put the winning run on base. Facts should not be used on internet message boards. It is always better to just say the coach is an idiot Non-facts: “If Mundt would have faltered, you'd have been bitching for Mulholland.” “ As for walking the guy Verburg pitched to, you don't put the winning run on base.” Both of these statements are not factual.

Tomorrow's game slated to start at 3 PM CDT/1 PM PDT, but could change. I'll be away at work during that time, so no pbp from me. Thanks for the great effort.

IF we were to win tomorrow.....strictly hypothetical (picture the Bobs in Office Space).......anyone know where we would likely end up playing a Super?? That could depend on who wins the Columbia Regional between Virginia/Old Dominion. Virginia as a 3 seed in that regional could make it possible a Virginia/OSU Super Regional in Eugene. If its Old Dominion/OSU, they may play in Columbia, SC or Greenville, NC is what I would guess.

Well, I bow to your knowledge of how much Mundt has pitched this year. But what's really amazing is how you know what I'm going to say ahead of time. Actually I've lost confidence in Mully lately and was hoping MC would either leave Mundt in or go to Verberg. But you just keep predicting what I'll think and say...even a broken clock is right occasionally.... So, you missed Mully striking out the side yesterday? Too bad. Didn't we play McNeese yesterday?? FYI, Mully struck out one batter, but didn't strike out the side. Too bad.

But you just keep predicting what I'll think and say...even a broken clock is right occasionally.... I'm sure the coaches also knew Mundt's status. Which might be why they made the change. It also might be the fact that the leadoff hitter in the 8th for DBU absolutely hammered a ball that Gretler saved from being a leadoff double with a great catch. And that the third out in the eighth was a pretty deep fly ball to Casey in left. And that he was at 30 pitches after the eighth, two days after throwing 19 on Friday. There are less than 32 teams in the country still alive. We are one of them, despite playing the final six weeks without our best offensive player, and with an undependable "ace" pitcher. At some point, everyone - and yes, that includes me - needs to shut up and let the coaches coach instead of micromanaging every single decision. It's amazing we got this far, beating the No. 6 national seed on its home field and beating another regional opponent in what is essentially a home game for that team. If they get this team to a Super I'd consider it almost an unbelievable coaching job. And so should you.

Can anyone remember the last time an opponent gifted us back-to-back bases loaded walks in an NCAA Tournament game? Not to mention that they were (at the time) the tieing and go-ahead runs.
We can't say we didn't catch a couple of breaks today.

Can anyone remember the last time an opponent gifted us with 2 straight bases loaded walks in an NCAA Tournament game? Not to mention that they were (at the time) the tieing and go-ahead runs. We can't say we didn't catch a couple of breaks today. I remember Stanford gifting the Beavers a bases loaded walk in the first game of the 2006 Super Regional.
