I slow played the call at 2nd in the 9th and it appeared to me that he was safe. I wonder why Mitch doesn't confront the umps. Also are we so hard up that we play McDowell and even let him bat in key situations? If he could at least make decent contact we would of scored. Casey, Jones, any one. Casey has 4 hits in the last 5 weeks. Jones has been hurt for a month. Down 1 run, I thought they'd pinch hit Casey for McDowell in the 8th, but you're correct Casey very likely would have not succeeded (in fact, struck out). As an option, and they're certainly limited, someone else could have ph for McDowell. Are Gavin Logan or Froemke available? They have 3 HR in 48 ab between them. Then Casey could go to CF in the B8th. All said, it was a very good game. Abel showed his best. Beck was just better.

I still believe you need to communicate and to express it face to face. In the 2018 WS Pat went out several times including one time to complain about balls and strike, even though he risked ejection. The umpire told Pat that to go back and that it he would not discuss it with him, but Pat had successfully communicated his displeasure with the umpire. Even on the bad call by the first base ump on the foul ball (which was not reviewable) Pat had communicated his view and not sit in the dugout. Pat was a master at it.

We have several hitters that are about 4-80 in the last 6 weeks, and I thought the 2016 slump was a bad one at the end of the season. Oh well, today we have Hjerpe, and they have people ready to throw batting practice. We need a team slumpbuster and that is going to take more than just the Bone to make happen.

If a coach believes the call was wrong or at least questionable the coach should confront the umpire and voice disagreement. You don't need to jump up and down, kick dirt, etc...Perhaps next time the umpire will think twice. To simply not say anything tells the umpire the call was absolutely correct.

He has had the hand injury all season, and Canham has said it was a game-to-game and week-to week situation for him. The injury list is mind boggling, but I am not sure about Logan. Micah was injured until this series, but I think I would rather have the young guy strike out than the veteran.

Mitch has gone out to argue calls or ask the umps to conference to discuss a play. The play in question here was correct. Meckler was out at second.

Again, I had a meeting last night, and the game was over so fast I never really got a chance to invoke the bone. Next time, I am not going to worry about what the others think if I whip out my chicken bone and Pac-12 official baseball. Not bringing it with me to the meeting was a bad mistake. But yeah, they need slumpbusting bigtime - anyone else out there got something they can throw into the mix. I am thinking of wearing my precious Jacoby Jersey, one of the batch we had custom made back in 2005, for the first time in years. It is one of my mancave museum pieces but it needs to come out and the majic of Ellsbury needs to be invoked!
