A great game for Abel. Can't pitch much better though Beck has pitched nearly perfect tonight.

The Beavs need to put Abel in a glass case with the words break when close to post season. Glad to see him pitch well.

Disappointing end, but that was a heck of a game by both pitchers.

That's weird beavs couldn't hit. Who would have predicted that?

That's weird beavs couldn't hit. Who would have predicted that? Anybody who knows how tough Beck can be, could've made that prediction. His stuff and precision plus our bats= A very tough night for Beaver hitters. Beck was only giving us 1 or 1 1/2 "maybe pitches" per at bat. Even many of the balls he threw were close pitches. A "maybe pitch" might be a single or double, but usually the batter fouls it off.

I slow played the call at 2nd in the 9th and it appeared to me that he was safe. I wonder why Mitch doesn't confront the umps. Also are we so hard up that we play McDowell and even let him bat in key situations? If he could at least make decent contact we would of scored. Casey, Jones, any one.

There’s no point arguing with the ump in your last AB. There’s no replay, they’re not changing the call and you still have the same crew for two more games.

Kevin is finding his groove. Adequate velo on the fastball tonite and the soft stuff was nasty. He let a fastball get away from him on the Jones HR - right in the wheelhouse. Kevin's outings are improving every time out, some real encouraging signs for us and the MLB scouts.
Beck is probably the most reliable Friday night starter in the PAC. He is incredibly consistent from week to week. He isn't overpowering at 91-93 but throws two + breaking pitches and a nasty change that he throws to both LH and RH hitters. Good command, he moves it in, out up and down and throws what he wants regardless of the count. Like most opponents, he left the Beavers guessing all night with the exception of the first pitch - he's trying to locate a fastball and get to 0-1 on the hitter.
A fun note on Jones - he was a multi-sport athlete from Clovis in the Fresno area that was undecided on whether to play football (recruited as a safety) or baseball. He was set on coming to Oregon State . . . . if he wasn't admitted to Stanford. We were his second choice which is no disgrace, a lot of great schools are a backup for Stanford applicants.

I think the reason to confront the umpire is to show disagreement and hopefully the next close play is in your favor. To stand mutely by is to acknowledge acceptance and that you no problem with the call. That call could very well have decided the game and to sit idly by is wrong. Without replay I realize that it will not reverse the call. I remember in the 2018 World Series Pat Casey went out several times to question calls.

Casey has 4 hits in the last 5 weeks. Jones has been hurt for a month.

Great game. Their first baseman made a great play as that ball would have scored the runner . Pitching superb. Abel deserved better, but their pitching was great. Few walks made for fast game. Their Home Run was clobbered. Hope We can get two games from them. Will be difficult.

I agree with Smails that no point in arguing at that point. Casey argued at world series because there is replay at the world series so chance call gets changed. Replay in regular season is yet another plus the SEC has over the PAC when it comes to overall big picture stuff
