I heard other fans nearby saying the replay showed he touched the bag. Did it???
We had a great team on the ropes at that point, would have been down 7 to 1. A very dominating day up to that event.
I thought the Beavs played very well yesterday and today, with the exception of the last couple innings.
Left the starter in too long, guessing Mitch didn't want to go to the bullpen. And then the pen let it get away.
Really too bad. It would have been a signature win, over a very good team.

Tv showed the bottom of his cleats scrap the top of the bag. Got to do better, ball was deep in the corner and no chance they would get him at second

His ankle buckled a bit rounding the base, but no way to tell from the replay if he hit the bag. Forrester trying to steal third with two outs didn’t help matters either.

I thought he hit it. Looked like his ankle buckled slightly like Jusge says. But several players in the AZ dugout spontaneously pointed in unison at the base after Meckler rounded it. I still think he touched it. In fact it seemed pretty obvious on replay to me.

I would say on the replay I saw about five times that he missed the bag. I think he caught a spike on the ground and buckled his ankle. Right call in my opinion. Beavers had so many chances to put runs on the board but Arizona kept them from cashing in most of the night. Could have had a lot more runs but couldn't get the hit to save themselves. To bad the game may have came down to a missed bag. This one along with the melt down in game 1 will stick in the minds of the players.

Last night was a totally different story however. It also included 54 40 Kolsch, Bad Hombre Mexican beer, and Hawaiian Longboard!

Was a great hit. I watched all the replays and maybe He caught the corner and maybe not. No need to be careless. We sadly gave up the lead with pitching and they blooped us to death in the 8 Th and ninth. I do not blame the coaches as starting pitching the last 2 games was very good. With normal relief all 3 games could, not should have been won. Sad ending to a well played game.

Some difficult plate appearances today. Our hitters struck out 14 times. Our 5-hole and 9-hole guys were punched out 4 times each, 7 of those 8 K's came with men on base.
One needs to establish HIS strike zone, the other has a very slow bat.

Ober looked lost up there yesterday. And as usual, Casey looks like he’s dreaming of being a hero instead of being productive. He’s an amazing bunter, but everything else has fallen into the crapper.

Meckler missed the bag. That’s what the ump said and that’s the call that stands.
It was a good enough call unfortunately. No way to really argue with the call because the video evidence doesn’t support it. Poor Meckler. Changed the whole game.

Feel terrible for Meckler. Happened to me once in Babe Ruth. My dad was the first base ump, called me out for missing first on a bases loaded triple. I'm positive I hit the bag, he's positive I missed it. In watching the replay of the Meckler play, I can see how both of them could be confident that they are right, and it's really hard to argue with either.

No way to really argue with the call because the video evidence doesn’t support it. Poor Meckler. Changed the whole game. One can easily conclude from watching that video that he touched the base. Easily. That's the thing about calls this important: If you make that call and take two runs off the board, you better be 150% sure you got it right, absolutely dead certain that he missed the base, and it better be clearly obvious on replay. Watching the video, that's not possible. After watching the replay no one can say with absolute certainty he missed, or touched, that base. And if that's the case, you don't guess and make that call, in a game this important. To me, that play totally reeked of an umpire showing off, making a call to try to show others how smart and into the game he was. Other's mileage may vary, of course.

The umpire did have a better angle from right behind the base than what is shown in the video. But, yes hopefully he was certain that he missed it.
