Whoa! Arizona is not to its normal standard? They are having their best season (to this point) in almost 30 years. Stanford is doing about as well as 2019. UCLA is down a bit, but they are still stupid talented. And Arizona and Oregon have basically plugged the hole that Oregon State and UCLA have vacated. Arizona State has had a better conference season than they have had since 2015. If the Devils win the series against the Bruins, it would be Arizona State's best season since 2014. If they sweep, the Devils would have their best season in more than a decade. UCLA and OSU are definitely down. I guess I didn't realize Stanford was a top 10 team, but their teams of the past 20 years have rolled out a really tough line -up 1-9. Arizona won a title in 2012 so this team is the one I am comparing it to. They should have lost 2/3 to the beavs this week-end...wasn't that impressed with the Cats. The proof will be in the tournament...can the conference step up. We shall see... Arizona went 20-10 in 2012 in the Pac-12 and were 36-16 overall at this point in the season, one game behind where they are in conference play in 2021 and two games behind where they were in overall record in 2021. And 2012 is Arizona's only Pac-10/12 Championship since 1992. The fact that the Wildcats are so close to a top eight seed at this point is crazy, when you look at how Arizona has played in Pac-10/12 play since 1992. The Wildcats look like an Omaha team to me at this point. Nate Yeskie has given Arizona just enough pitching to win those 6-5 games. I was very impressed that Oregon State battled the way that they did against Arizona. To lose on a hyper-technical BS call like that on Sunday is aggravating. You are ultimately correct, though, that the proof will be in the Tournament. We'll see..........

I would say it's how we reacted to the losing of 2 runs. We didn't compete after that giving up 5 runs. Arizona was mentally tougher. The tournament is about who gets hot and can ride the wave. Win and advance. I hope the whole PAC does well minus uo...have a personal connection there. Just can't root for them lol

I agree about getting hot at the right time and how that can help catapult a team through the tournament. This weekend presents a great final opportunity vs a top 10 team. Go down and have a good showing and it could be the spark that starts engine running in sync at exactly the right time. This should be an absolutely exciting, playoff level ,weekend of baseball ahead. The past does not matter now, it's what they do from here on out. Go Beavs!!

This year has been one of the weirdest, most frustrating years in my memory of osu baseball. This team is so close to being at the top of the conference, but things we haven't seen in the past of osu baseball have occurred. The bull pen has been sooo inconsistent...something I always counted on us being good at. Pitching has given up a lot of free passes with walks and HBP's. Even with those negatives,we have been in almost every game and have gotten clutch play at times. Mental toughness was a strong trait of Pat Casey teams...not sure this team has it under Mitch. When things go south, the good teams stiffen up and step up. Hope we have learned our lessons and developed some grit for a run...

There's a big challenge following in the footsteps of a legend, most people only tend to remember the highlights from the past and forget there were struggles and less than perfect games, and seasons mixed in. Mitch will have to prove himself over time, but in the interim he'll be sized up against an almost ridiculous measure to hold anyone up to.

What I did like in game three was playing the way I am used to the successful teams at osu have played. Moving runners over into scoring position to try to add insurance runs with sac bunts. It puts lots of pressure on the defense. That showed me progress...

The "Bone" is something I borrowed several weeks ago from the movie "Major League" where team slugger Pedro Serrano is from the Caribbean and rubs a chicken bone on his bat for luck. I took an actual chicken bone with me to the game Saturday (Thank You Jeff!) and rubbed it on a ball retrieved from the UA batting practice the entire game and the juju worked. I couldn't go Sunday, sigh, or maybe the Bone would have made things happen. But it has been proven not to work very well with bullpens or baserunning. As an aside, Pedro Serrano = The Allstate Guy.

I couldn't link it with anything -- it's not readily apparent. Thanks. J
