They are not toast. But we need a few more guys to get hot heading into this coming weekend.
There's always been enough talent to make a run but they've choked in big moments....its frustrating, but that's baseball.
I'm not expecting a postseason run based on how many late inning letdowns we've had. But all it takes is confidence and execution.

Ugh. Ask Arizona how they feel about their series win and I bet they’ll tell you that they were LUCKY to escape with the series. It was a fluke. Fluke or trend? Trend if you’re looking at late-inning-pitching giving up a lead. Fluke if you’re looking at Meckler missing the bag and wiping the winning runs off the board.

Seems like it’s been a long time since the Beavs have rallied to win a game when trailing after the 7th. Good teams do that and right now, we haven’t been able to. Late inning pitching is marginal compared to what we’ve had it seems like May 7, 2021 USC 4 - Oregon State 3 entering the eighth. Final score: Oregon State 5 - USC 4. April 23, 2021 Irvine 4 - Oregon State 2 entering the eighth. Final score: Oregon State 7 - Irvine 5. February 28, 2021 Grand Canyon 2 - Oregon State 1 entering the eighth. Final score: Oregon State 4 - Grand Canyon 2. February 26, 2021 Grand Canyon 1 - Oregon State 0 entering the eighth. Final score: Oregon State 3 - Grand Canyon 1.
Total number of comeback wins in 2020 after trailing in the eighth or later? Zero.
Total number of comeback wins in 2019 after trailing in the eighth or later? Two: Utah Game 1 and New Mexico Game 1.
Total number of regular season season comeback wins in 2018 after trailing in the eighth or later? Two: Nevada Game 1 and Ohio State Game 1. (Oregon State had three in the postseason: Minnesota Game 2, North Carolina Game 2 and Arkansas Game 2).
I have really admired the fight in Oregon State this year. The team has as many comeback wins over the past three months, as they have the previous 3+ years combined.
The problem has not been comeback wins. It has been in too many early deficits.
As an aside, 2017 had seven comeback wins after trailing in the eighth or later: Arizona, St. Mary's, Utah (x2), UCLA, Washington State and Abilene Christian. None against LSU, which was the problem.

The circumstances will quickly be forgotten , the record is what counts ! You’re correct in the long run, but when we examine the worthiness of the team for the postseason, circumstance matter. We’ve nearly won each series. How can you count the team out already?

The one thing that I know for sure is that the bone should be thrown in the trash or buried in the back yard.
Five losses in the last six games is more than enough evidence.
"The bone?" What is that?

The "Bone" is something I borrowed several weeks ago from the movie "Major League" where team slugger Pedro Serrano is from the Caribbean and rubs a chicken bone on his bat for luck. I took an actual chicken bone with me to the game Saturday (Thank You Jeff!) and rubbed it on a ball retrieved from the UA batting practice the entire game and the juju worked. I couldn't go Sunday, sigh, or maybe the Bone would have made things happen. But it has been proven not to work very well with bullpens or baserunning.

A closer blowing three saves in a season (and picking up two losses in the process) is very un-Oregon State. The strength of schedule has ratcheted up over the past four weekends, which accounts for part of that. Ultimately, blowing leads and digging holes only to try and come back speaks to inconsistency. This feels like 2007. You never know, if the team will show up and play like the 1927 Yankees or the 2018 O's (which "earned" the O's the right to draft Rutschman).

I guess i would disagree. I think several of the normal PAC-12 teams are down this year. Osu,Ucla,Arizona and Stanford are not to their normal standard. Uo is not a top 10 team in my opinion. None are top 10 teams. I guess the proof is in the pudding come play-off time. Whoa! Arizona is not to its normal standard? They are having their best season (to this point) in almost 30 years. Stanford is doing about as well as 2019. UCLA is down a bit, but they are still stupid talented. And Arizona and Oregon have basically plugged the hole that Oregon State and UCLA have vacated. Arizona State has had a better conference season than they have had since 2015. If the Devils win the series against the Bruins, it would be Arizona State's best season since 2014. If they sweep, the Devils would have their best season in more than a decade. Ucla and osu are definitely down. I guess I didn't realize Stanford was a top 10 team, but their teams of the past 20 years have rolled out a really tough line -up 1-9. Arizona won a title in 2012 so this team is the one I am comparing it to. They should have lost 2/3 to the beavs this week-end...wasn't that impressed with the Cats. The proof will be in the tournament...can the conference step up. We shall see...
