Very few assistants are hired after a coach retires and those that do have been there for a long time.

Seems like one hiring obstacle could be Scott's age and his commitment to OSU ! Why ! Because any young, ambitious coaching prospect would look at the job as having no opportunity to advance while in the Corvallis position ! Scott, hopefully, is going to be there alooooong time ! Can’t believe that would be the reason. You would think a dozen or so would have applied so you wonder at some point what the issues are. Like I said other PAC coaches are being recruits on campus as soon as possible after June 1st . A lot to ask being short handed.

All this posting did was change the closing date from the 18th to the 24th (which is Monday). It still has the anticipated start date as June 1st. Scott started out the morning today with a 'happy' tweet, so I'm thinking he is feeling good. The extension of the posting may very well mean he is still undecided on at least one position, but I'm sure they've had hundreds of inquiries and I'm looking forward to hearing what develops this next week. I'm also looking forward to hearing of player visits. I expect our commits, and at least one other recruit to visit in the next few weeks.

Scott will take his time to get the right hires...what is the hurry? We have three huge commits ready to sign next fall, and there is no evaluation period going on now. Get the decision done right...not fast. The coaches need good chemistry and be on the same page. That takes time to figure out the right fit. Other schools may want to get things done quickly...I could care less. Scott has this under control. Somebody mentioned budgetary restraints ( I did not) but I would like to hear more about that. Does that person have any first hand knowledge? Maybe Scott has things in control but somebody hire up is tying his hands on this. That would be real frustrating for him.

Salary seems low, but I have not researched a lot on what other public universities are paying their associate head and assitant coaches. 35k to 96k per year. Ugh. The low end is practically poverty wages.

The low end is practically poverty wages. That salary range did not come from OSU. What the ad says: "Salary is commensurate with education, training and experience." So obviously a hire with BH's experience, which was considerable, will get more than a coach with KF's experience when she was hired, which was essentially nothing. There is also camp income. Whoever is hired will be earning far more than poverty wages. Now, whether that will be enough to afford a house in BH's old neighborhood remains to be seen.

I would guess that another very qualified candidate expressed interest and SR would like to give the person time to apply.

And just like that, we have an add reaction button. Nice......but I'm not sure I am going to enjoy the reactions to my post.

Per Oregonlive in 2019 TSDTR paid their wbb assistants 216k, 179k and 105k respectively
