Parker mentioned in his interview with Ober, that he said Melton is the best player he has played with and Melton may have the best Pop in College Baseball. Think about for minute. Adley? dear Ryan Ober, everyone is entitled to their opinion , even when they are completely wrong. Wasn’t Ryan here in 2018 ? There were at least 5 guys better than Jacob on that team Which five guys were better than Melton? Adley? Yes. Larnach? Probably. Madrigal, Grenier and Kwan had totally different skill sets. They certainly did not have Melton's power, and he runs as well or better as they did. Gretler? Not as good now, and certainly not as projectable.

Melton has great power and speed. I remember hearing how much power Larnach had with little production his sophomore year...his junior year he exploded. I fully expect Melton to do the same next year...

Anyone got intel on Pfennings? I saw him carrying a clipboard after the game. Interesting use of Washburn today. With a game tomorrow and Tuesday, we've got two starts to fill. Frisch would be one, and Washburn the other unless Jake, as tomorrow's starter was charting pitches today.

Either take the kid at his word and be suitably impressed. Or not. Either way, Melton is pretty special. I’ll never forget his 3 dinger night and his skill and speed in the field are notable, too. And whether you believe Ober or not, enjoy watching him play.

'Someone' said Pfennings had a tired arm and they were keeping him healthy for games later in the year ! Seems like if we have more guys that can throw like Jerpe' and Washburn and did ( few walks / if any, no HBP and use the defense, then we have a lot of options! Getting killed with small ball ( ala duck series ), is EMBARASSING ! Watching us come from behind, when the other team has a small or large lead, is showing some confidence in every situation. The last couple of games are showing some attention to detail ... I am liking the lineup and batting order a little better - but, maybe Fuch's needs a few more PH at bats before he starts ! Ober was great at 2B today and looked really engaged in getting the job done ! Keep it going Beavs - tough road tests coming up!

Adley? dear Ryan Ober, everyone is entitled to their opinion , even when they are completely wrong. Wasn’t Ryan here in 2018 ? There were at least 5 guys better than Jacob on that team Ober was here in 2018. Jacob Melton's stats so far: .419 BA, .709 SLG%, .459% OB% and 1.168 OPS Adley Rutschman's stats in 2018: .408 BA, .628 SLG%, .505 OB% and 1.133 OPS Trevor Larnach's stats in 2018: .348 BA, .652 SLG%, .463 OB% and 1.115 OPS And he would already be fourth in steals on the 2018 team behind Nick Madrigal (15), Steven Kwan (14) and Cadyn Grenier (9). He is stealing more bases per game than Grenier and Kwan (but is getting thrown out at a higher rate than Grenier right now). Madrigal stole bases at a higher clip than anyone else on the 2018 and 2021 teams. Just for fun, Rutschman's stats in 2019: .411 BA, .751 SLG%, .575 OB% and 1.326 OPS He's even hitting better than Rutschman (although, Rutschman is still out-slugging him). Rutschman was definitively better. Everyone else is arguable. Madrigal was better at stealing bases and better at defense.

Brilliant job by Mitch. Beavs lead 2-1 Bet Barney gave Ober the signal to take off for 2nd, Melton is too fast if they try for Ober Canham back to coaching 3rd base for this series.
