I really need to get to a game, I need to see Melton in person. Blazing fast with power, sounds like an OSU version of Ricky Henderson. No, he's got all 5 tools. Ricky didn't have the power Melton is showing. But then again Ichiro had tremendous power; he just focused on getting on base.

Both of these wins against Cal were good momentum builders and important learning opportunities. Friday night, going down by four after taking a small lead felt huge. But the Beavs fought back to tie it up and then broke it open in the next inning. I love to see the Beavs do exactly that.
And today, an intense game where any mistake is amplified because the score was so tight. We had to have our heads in the game all game long. Defense had to play well and they did! Some of those grounders to Ober and AA were pretty amazing plays at first. And Claunch has made other teams realize that stealing the base isn’t the gimme it was earlier in the season.
Let’s sweep ‘em up tomorrow!

Holds all power records for a lead-off guy. On the other hand, Melton's speed is worth the price of a ticket. Simply amazing. And Baker. I love speed. Coaches have to be saying that the key is to keep those guys off base.

Today's victory made possible by a pitching staff that lined up like this: 1 BB / 0 HBP / 0 Wild Pitch. Wouldn't it be nice to see that more often?

I don't know, zeroposter has me convinced that, after the Portland game, we should rip up that turf BS around the mound and go back to dirt. Kevin Abel's home-and-away splits are unreal: At Goss: 5.04 ERA .202 OBA 1.56 WHIP 1.60 K/BB Everywhere Else: 1.66 ERA .086 OBA 0.97 WHIP 3.67 K/BB We have 17 days after the Portland game to all go down there with our shovels and do our part before Abel's next start against USC.

I wrote that after the 1st home game. As Abel was being yanked in the 5th inning he took a long look at the mound. He has not looked comfortable on the Goss mound.

Parker mentioned in his interview with Ober, that he said Melton is the best player he has played with and Melton may have the best Pop in College Baseball. Think about for minute. Adley?

Adley? dear Ryan Ober, everyone is entitled to their opinion , even when they are completely wrong. Wasn’t Ryan here in 2018 ? There were at least 5 guys better than Jacob on that team

Never should have put the crap down. Any idea what are team ERA is home vs road? I come up with a home ERA of 3.17 and away/neutral of 2.25. Teams played during neutral/away would be a major factor also. In 19 innings at home(4 starts) Abel has pitched 19 innings while giving up 14 earned runs and 16 walks. That says out of sync.

His size, speed, and power put his ceiling very high.....glad he's on our team
