18-0-0 1951 and 1962 17-1-0 2013, 2017 and 2018 16-2-0 1968 and 2016 15-3-0 1959, 1960, 1964, 1985, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 14-3-1 2019 14-4-0 1952 13-4-1 1975 and 1996 13-5-0 1949, 1966, 1980, 1987, 1994, 2004, 2009 and 2021 12-5-1 1997 12-6-0 1947, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1958, 1961, 1963, 1981, 1982 and 2006
15 years ago today, Oregon State was 12-7, having already dropped series to Pepperdine and USC. The Beavers also had lost to Gonzaga at Surprise Stadium, California-Davis and New Mexico. Through the first 18 games, 2021 Oregon State has allowed 18 fewer runs than 2006 Oregon State. After 18 games in 2006, Oregon State was 12-6. The Beavers then went 38-10 over the final 48, including going 22-4 over the next 26, to win a National Championship. The 2021 Beavers need to rebound from yesterday's debacle and start building. The pitching seems to be there, maybe just need some more consistency.

There always has to be a Debbie Downer. Baseba!!, is that you? You're right? The 2021 team has played better so far, especially pitching-wise.

Maybe you should step away from the stats and watch the team play. Stats can easily be distorted based on who you play and the fact that the 2021 team scored 34 runs in 2 games.

If you take away the three highest-scoring games from each team, 2021 still outscored 2006.

Assessing a team, and implying a negative conclusion (especially when that team is 13-5 / 2-1, after the first week of Conference play) is irrelevant.

But, implying that they are as good as the 2006 National Championship team is OK......yea, that makes sense.

(David Byrne)......................It's UNKNOWN how good/bad the 2021 team is. The 2006 team lost to Gonzaga in Surprise. Were then swept in a 2-game series v. Pepperdine...and lost their first PAC 11 series (2-1) to USC. Who the hell knows where this (2021 team) goes??

One would expect a Beaver fan to understand this, given where their men’s basketball team currently is positioned.

I like the perspective. I didn't jump to the conclusion that the 2021 team will be "better" than 2006. I concluded the season is young and we have alot of baseball to play. Obviously in looking at only W/L we are not factoring in strength of schedule in those previous years. But that is ok.... again it was a nice reminder that we have a long way to go before it is tournament time and you just never know who is going to contribute. I'm liking that Forrester, McMahan and now Logan are showing they have some pop in the bat against mid week pitching. Just time to do that on Friday night
