It would be great if everybody returns next year. This team could be special of given a normal summer of player led practices. Add in a regular pre conference schedule and we should be able to give anyone a run.

Iron sharpens Iron, right? Not only that but it would have to be a boost to recruiting seeing all of these players electing to stay as long as possible. Would speak a lot to the culture in place.

I can't see Ellie Mack or Jovana Subasic returning. They were here to fill either a vacancy (DS) or a practice player. Scott never likes to carry more than 12-13 players. Per NCAA, a player can return but the school does not have to pay for a scholarship (tuition).

I think 11-12 is a good number. 10 is a little low to start with.

One of the biggest selling points for Beaver WBB is the ability to play in-front of the kind of crowds you play in front of at Gill. Neither has gotten that opportunity this year. I know PT isn't guaranteed, but I would hope both players will be back just to experience the normal crowds at Gill, a sold out game against Oregon, etc. Not only that, I think Mack would still have a roll even next year. As she get's more comfortable, I'm more impressed with her game. A 6'3 player who shoots 40%+ from 3 is always something a coach can use.

A player can choose to return but the school does not have to pay for her scholarship. Very few athletes could stay under those conditions. Plus "scholarship" and "tuition" are not the same - by a long distance.... I'm not doubting your word - but it's news to me....And, from a practical point of view, it's important news.... GO BEAVS!!

lotrader - thanks for posting the Eggers article.... When Gill opens for business people better buy their season tickets....I think next year's team will be a scorcher.
Eggers has a good eye for the game, and he's not prone to excessive hype. For him to draw comparisons between Talia and Ionescu is amazing. And Rueck's comments did nothing to discourage Eggers...Rueck also commented about something often overlooked in Talia's game: she's one helluva passer. Personally, I cannot remember any OSU frosh having the WOW factor that Talia has.
Shifting gears: I can't see Subasic returning - but who knows what her personal story might be....If Mack returns I think she will be (along with Goforth) the most improved player on the roster.... GO BEAVS!!

GO BEAVS!! Speaking on Eggers' comparison. It's something I have felt from the first couple of times watching her play, but I've tried not to make it. However, she just has a control in her game where her speed with the ball isn't what makes her special, it's her mind. As she gets better with the 10-15 footer coming off the pick and roll I'm not sure how you can guard her because her strength will allow her to get to the rim if she's pressed up on and her strength will allow her to finish at the rim. For someone who should have just finished her state tournament, I'm very excited to watch her develop. The future is BRIGHT.

Really good article by Kerry Eggers. I always enjoy his insight into OSU and the games. I don't know about the comparison between Talia and Sabrina. They haven't reminded me of each other, but they are both good passers, rebounders, and scorers. What I can say, is that statistically Talia (as what should be a High School Senior) has a much better shooting percentage than SI as a ture freshman. SI's FG% was .390 but that stat improved very well over her career, improving to over 50% as a senior. The one thing to keep in mind is that Talia only has a small amount of games for comparison, but I think we all like what we've seen so far.
There has been a couple things that have surprised me for sure in Talia's game. Her basketball smarts, confidence, passing, and shooting ability have all been way better than I anticipated. I'm still wondering why the 'so called' evaluators had her listed as a wing. Although I saw at least one who considered her a point forward, I didn't see anyone calling her a point guard, yet SR said they saw her as the best passing ability in her class. I'm fine with calling her a wing, as she can definitely play that position and knock down the shots, but her ball handling abilities, and passing ability, at the very least make her a combo guard, and point guard
I probably shouldn't admit this, but I've watched many replays of both games with the ducks (and more). There was one play where Talia caught a pass and passed the ball along to Taya in lightening speed. It almost looked like she caught the ball and pushed it with her right hand inside to Taya. Reminded me of a game of hot potato. One thing is for sure, the bigs are starting to get used to passes from Talia, that they haven't seen from the other players, and weren't used to looking for before.

Talia already has a WNBA basketball IQ, and if this were the men's side of the program, could be a 1/2 and done if she makes the run she can with the team through the tournament - a little orange in my glasses lenses? Perhaps, but wow, getting her to be with our team 3-4 more years is so exciting!

I’ll be interested to see if Savannah explores her options in the transfer portal after this season.
Her mother, to say the least, was not pleased and took much offense to Rueck referring to Savannah’s offensive game as “developmental.”

I'm not sure how else you could describe her offensive game beside developmental.
