Talia already has a WNBA basketball IQ, and if this were the men's side of the program, could be a 1/2 and done if she makes the run she can with the team through the tournament - a little orange in my glasses lenses? Perhaps, but wow, getting her to be with our team 3-4 more years is so exciting! I appreciate the enthusiasm expressed for TvO's potential based upon the limited subset of games that she has under her belt at the collegiate level. However, she is physically in no way ready to compete at a WNBA level. Her conditioning will come with time and effort. She would be locked down pretty completely if she tried to compete at that level now and would have difficulty keeping up with the WNBA pace of play.

I’ll be interested to see if Savannah explores her options in the transfer portal after this season. Her mother, to say the least, was not pleased and took much offense to Rueck referring to Savannah’s offensive game as “developmental.” I think Savannah has potential, but she's shooting 29% from the field and 14% from 3. I'm not sure how else you could describe her offensive game beside developmental. Parents can be blind to the reality of their kid's ability. I coached softball and basketball for my daughter's teams. Kids were great and usually pretty realistic about what was best for the team. Parents get locked in on their child and miss the big picture. Savannah is going to be a player down the road, and hopefully it for the Beavs.

The worst thing about coaching kids is their parents.

I'm way too far ahead of myself but after the Men's victory today over Tennessee today I'm a bit casual in my commentary. .. I think one of the biggest things OSU WBB has going for it in the next few years is that TvO is not a top WNBA type athlete....I think she might develop into a player who dominates at the NCAA level, but a 6'2 defender with arms and speed will likely give her game more than it can handle.... What I'm trying to say is that TvO can have a long and impressive career at OSU because I don't believe the WNBA will be in any hurry to steal her away.... GO BEAVS!!

With regards to Savannah..... Her offensive game is more than developmental. It's light years from where it needs to be. Briefly:
1. she can attack the basket effectively - that's a plus 2. she (as of her first year) cannot finish when she gets to the basket. Over a two game stretch she slashed to the basket six times and not once did the ball even make it to the rim. Not once. The good news is she got fouled on two of these drives. 3. She has promise - And by OSU standards she has excellent quickness and athleticism. 4. when she learns to finish she will be an impressive player because she already is a solid defender. 5. she's not ready yet - but if I was Rueck, I'd love to have her for another 2 or 3 years to see if her offensive game comes to life. 6. It's not a completely fair comparison, but if there is a player on the roster with a similar profile it's Jasmine Simmons. However, in my view, SS has a much higher upside than Jasmine. 7. I'd love to see SS return next year....I'm a fan. I like her speed and her toughness. But right now the bottom line is she can't finish at the rim. When she does even people who don't come to Benny's will know who she is. GO BEAVS!!

What if she’s born on Mars? Elon Musk wanted me to ask. It's too bad his baby w/ singer Grimes wasn't able to be born on Mars. Maybe their next one. The kid has a Martian name though.
