If I were the Gonzaga coach, it would take a ton of money to get me to U Dub. Spokane is a very nice town; Seattle has a city government that sanctioned the 'autonomous zone' where domestic terrorists could enjoy a nice 'Summer of Love.' Gonzaga has a very good program that will sustain itself, they have always drawn well (better than us even), and basketball is obviously a big deal there. It would be pretty hard to convince someone that they can never reach great heights there when the men's team is the number one overall seed. The Gonzaga women need to find a way to beef up their non-conference schedule and attract more attention. Once again, home and homes with us and/or the Ducks would go a long way for them. But U Dub attendance fell through the roof after Plum left, and they averaged 1,748 last year. Gonzaga averages more than 4 times that. Spokane is a very nice town?I thought so the one time I was there. I'd go back.

While she has been recruiting well, it’s pretty unlikely Fortier will ever be able to turn Gonzaga into a national title contender. Top recruits in WBB aren’t really interested in playing in the WCC. Gonzaga will likely be the favorite to win the WCC for as long as she is there. Washington job has a high ceiling but a low floor. That's why you have to upgrade the non-conference schedule and play some top teams. Not only does it get you exposure, it gives your team experience against the best competition - helps a lot come tournament time. With respect to top recruits wanting to go there, I would remind you they share a gym with a men's team that is the number one national seed. Those can't be a bunch of overperforming three stars. It would take some time, but it could be done. Pick it up year over year, and, who knows - you get that one magic recruit and you're ready for prime time. (Look at what Larry Bird did for Indiana State.)

I thought so the one time I was there. I'd go back. I've been there multiple times. I can take it or leave it.

Mark Few has turned the mens team into a nationally recognized team. There are some pretty good players coming is to Gonzaga every recruiting cycle. Granted power five conferences would be harder to dominate. Gonzaga men have upgraded their non conference schedule a lot over the years.

GU women are about where the men were 10-15 years ago. I really, really doubt they'll ever climb to the heights the Zags men's team has, but the GU women still have a very good program.
Fortier got to the Sweet 16 her first year at GU. They've been a 1st or 2nd round out ever since. Graves had a 3 year stretch at GU of Sweet 16, Elite 8, Sweet 16.

Her '18-'19 squad lost a very competitive game at Gill in March 2019 in the second round of that season's NCAA tourney. Not quite as competitive as the Beavs' first round game against Boise St. (miracle by Pivec to even force it to OT). That seeding was ludicrous, Boise St. and Gonzaga should've played in Rd 1. while the Beavers should've gotten the absolute creampuff the Zags got.

Wait to here if Campbell is headed to Washington? Do you know something? Of course Benny’s House is where all of the news breaks for the first time.

Tina Langley, who led Rice to the WNIT championship today, is rumored to be another possibility. She appears to be a good coach, but an average recruiter. Rice is a pretty elite academic school in an area with a wealth of talented players.

Wait to here if Campbell is headed to Washington? Do you know something? He’s definitely putting himself out there “on the market”. www.insider.com/sabrina-ionescu-satou-sabally-oregon-coach-mark-campbell-head-coach-2021-3And judging from the article (which I’m certain he cooperated on) he’s already got one foot out the door. Quite hilarious to read Sabrina saying that she’ll happily flip her allegiance from Oregon to whichever school that Mark Campbell lands at.

Well, he's a plus for the Ducks, meaning his departure would be a minus for the Ducks. Any minus for the Ducks is a plus in my eyes, so ease on down the road, Mark - hopefully somewhere outside the PAC 12.

Huh, took Campbell four years to land Ion. That's odd, because he'd only been a Duck for two years.
