I think there's a chance that Mitrovic might still be a freshman next year--yes, for the third time. If I understand the one-time rule, it states that athletes can repeat next season at wherever they stand this year. Mitrovic is a red-shirt freshman this year and may well get to repeat the year, just like everyone else. I think Mannen is still a walk-on, but I'm sure there are many more knowledgeable than I. Mitrovic would be a freshman next season. Everybody that played this year gets an extra year of play (if they so desire). Doesn't mean she will stick around for 4 more years, but she would be eligible. Thought I heard they gave Mannen a scholarship, but maybe not. May be one of those cases where they give it to her if it's not being used. Because of her condition Aquino would be considered a medical scholarship and not count against the limit.

Thanks beaverwbb, but did ya notice, they called us "Oregon" in the first paragraph (got it right later). Like so many writers and announcers ,it is a blurry difference ? They also consistently ignore Adlee Blacklock ? Looks like both issues are fixed

The one downside of granting an extra year of eligibility to everyone. New players coming in and no one leaving? The log jam will be an issue. She may give us consistent scoring at the 4, which we really haven't had up to now. She has a great looking shot judging from the film above. No log jam issues for Oregon State. If everybody comes back next year, eligibility wise, we look like this: Seniors - Goodman, Mack, Subasic Juniors - Corosdale, Simmons Sophs - Aquino(?), Mannon, Brown, Jones, Mitrovic Frosh - Goforth, Samuel, Kampschroeder, von Oelhoffen Incoming - Gardiner, Beers, Blacklock As you can see, the number going out equals the number coming in. Note also that next year will be Aquino's 4th in the program. If she is still unable to play, I would imagine they'll free up her scholarship after that. Also, I have no idea if Mannon was ever given a scholarship. My head scratcher is the next year. We will have Mit, Brown, and Jones as juniors with Gardiner and Beers coming in as frosh. Gard backing up Brown will get some playing time, but with three posts there is going to be someone not happy it seems like.

Aquino would still count toward the scholarship limit. She isn't medically retired from basketball, so it still counts. She comes under the label medical redshirt. I don't think it does anything to the Beavers because Rueck doesn't want to use up all of the scholarships. Might change with the extra year of eligibiltiy.

I imagine that Mitrovic and Beers will split minutes as the backup to Jones throughout the first half of the season. Whoever emerges as the best suited will likely get priority from there on out, unless there’s certain matchups the staff wants to exploit. We have to remember that Taya will also still be eligible for the 2022-2023 season. That gives us six talented front court players. Considering what our depth will be like at the guard and the 4 position, it’s hard to see Taya getting HUGE minutes. But she could make that senior season leap that many have in their final year at OSU. All of this has me wondering if she’ll move on after next season.

I should also add if the player medically retires she can't come back and play for the university where they are attending and previously played. That was why Tyner didn't play for the Ducks again after coming out of a medical retirement.

Yes, but I guess my point is if the Beavs needed a scholarship she would/could be medically retired. At this point, she is down to two more years of eligibility. As you stated, SR doesn't use all available scholarships so it's mostly a mute point. You are correct though.

Teams like Stanford or Connecticut, however, face similar problems every year at one position or another, and they get through it. Ultimately, the best players get the minutes; if they're of equal ability, the experienced upperclassman plays. I imagine Scott will pretty much do this as well. It should be pointed out that Beers knew Jones and Mitrovic would be here when she committed, so she knows the deal. With respect to Corosdale, who knows what she's thinking. I have no idea what her degree will be in or what her future plans are. I can see her coming back next year for sure; I just don't envision anybody wanting to ride off into the sunset after a messed up year like this one. But coming back for a 6th year in the program? Way too early to speculate on that.

Is there a specific date when the players have to declare whether or not they will be returning for next season?

Is there a specific date when the players have to declare whether or not they will be returning for next season? Yes, about one day after it starts driving us crazzzzy.

In an interview with Corosdale that one of you posted, the interviewer asked her about her senior season next year (or words to that effect), and she immediately corrected him by noting that she has two more years. It wasn't dispositive for sure, but I had the strong feeling that she loves it at OSU and very much wants that second year.

If you liked the game against Puerto Rico (with Timea), here is the finals of that 2019 Americas tournament. I wish I knew Spanish, the announcers sound good. Note the replays, lots of camera angles, well produced game.
She is #12 and note ,if you see the coach is Mark Campbell, relax, a different Mark Campbell !
