Yeah I think we owe a small thanks to UA for cheating! Actually I think we owe them a BIG thanks. Tired legs from an extra game has gotta be worth two or more points, IMHO. Watching Ohio State and Illinois right now and "The" OSU is a 5 seed who has to play 4 games in 4 days which included an OT game. They are down 28-14 right now and looking weary. Buckeyes fighting back. 60-63.

When has a seed lower than 4 won the tourney? Winning 4 straight is extremely hard, and only needing 3 wins as a 5 only was possible due to UA’s cheating. As gassed as both teams were in the 2nd half, I can’t imagine how it would have been as a 4th straight game. I believe uo was a six seed when they won the tournament in 2019. Thanks, yes, looks like Oregon in 2019 pulled off 4 wins and Colorado did the same in 2019. I’m not sure if either of those teams were all or nothing, their records suggest they might have been bubble teams anyway?

Ouch! You guys are sold on CJS, but not on a guy who has resurrected a long dead basketball program? I mean what Tinkle has had to overcome is crazy! Last year was our first winning record in the Pac 12 since 1990. In his 7 years, he’ll have guided us to two NCAA berths. 2.2 million per year plus a bonus for the Tournament win seems like a nice bit of change. All of the coaches are forgoing their contract bonuses this year due to COVID-19. However, WT gets an automatic 1 year extension for making the tourney.

They would not have danced absent a Pac-12 Tournament win. The difference was that Oregon was ranked #14 before Bol Bol got hurt. The Ducks stumbled to a 15-12 start before finally putting it together and reeling off 10 straight. They won four straight to claim the sixth seed and then won an additional four straight in the Pac-12 Tournament. Oregon was given the 12-seed and were paired with an overrated Wisconsin Badger team that had finished fourth in the Big Ten. It also helped that the game was in San Jose. Oregon and Wisconsin were close early, but the Ducks outclassed the Badgers in the second half en route to an 18-point win. 13-seed UC Irvine upset an overrated #4 Kansas State, so Oregon got UC Irvine in the Round of 32. The Ducks blew a 12-point second half lead to gift Irvine a lead but took control thereafter, blowing out the Zots by 19. Oregon then drew Virginia in the Sweet Sixteen. Outside of Auburn in the Final Four, no team played the Cavs better. Oregon led by three with five minutes left but squandered the lead. Virginia took the lead with 3:34 left and held it until Oregon left a Virginia player open under the basket with 27.5 seconds left, which allowed the Cavs to take a five-point lead. Virginia made just enough free throws to escape with a four-point win en route to a National Championship.

The Buffaloes looked good heading into the final weekend of the Pac-12 regular season but dropped both games of a road trip to Oregon to fall from third to sixth. The general consensus was that, with the finish, Colorado had to win the Pac-12, in order to secure a berth to the Tournament in 2012, especially, because Arizona, the Buffaloes' opponent in the Pac-12 Championship Game, was a bid stealer as well in 2012. The Wildcats lost the Pac-12 Championship Game and were one of the first four out. The Buffaloes took the Wildcats' spot. Colorado was given an 11-seed in the Tourney against UNLV in Albuquerque. The Buffaloes went up by 20 in the second half, but the Rebs fought all the way back to being down two with four minutes left. From their, Colorado pulled away a bit to win by four. Baylor and Colorado played two days later with the Bears winning by 17. Baylor eventually gave eventual National Champion Kentucky a scare but ultimately bowed out in the Elite Eight.
