I think we have only made one solid contact in this game. Jake D. hit a shot for an out.

can't watch, but it sounds like we can't even make contact, is this guy Nolan Ryan?? Wow! please tell me there is some hope, cause this sounds terminal as far as fielding a competitive PAC12 team. Good pitching, which they all have, will kill us....apparently the glow is off team Canham already. We're a basketball school anyway.....

Well, that's that. Zero runs in 18 innings.

Latter part of the game we made some good contact. Jones finally went up and hit the first pitch and darn near hit it out. As we all know this team has only one or two guys who look like they are ready to hit. I could see Jake D. growing into a good hitter. Ober is struggling and playing about a C second base. Maybe we should start using Tennis Rackets. Could that help?

Jmho, but this was the best Beaver game of the season. The 10-1 record coming into this series was absolute lipstick on a pig. The seemingly rigid rules on not swinging in so many situations were covered up by late game bailouts. That simply doesn't work against good teams. The Beaver pitching is good. Hopefully, Abel has learned that every pitch counts, and if you put yourself in a jam, you will pay at some big point. Still, the Beaver pitching is good.
Today for the very first time, I thought Beaver hitters swung at pitches that they needed to swing at. They didn't produce, but they will unless the over coaching comes into play.

Too bad we didn't see that coming. Oh, that's right, I did! "Mar 1, 2021 at 11:53pm jdogge said: Sorry, boys, but your optimism is through orange-colored glasses. UNM and GCU are not Pac-12 caliber teams. So don't think for a minute that we will dominate conference opponents they way we dominated marginal teams. We've proven nothing except good pitching [KSU] can beat us. And the Pac-12 will have a lot of it." Yeah, I took some crap over this post.

This is where coaching has to step up. Players are lost and out of sync. Nothing is flowing. Coach has to get them through this and have them build upon it. Whatever it takes, Canham has to do.

Tell me, do you have a Beaver Believer bumper sticker? Or is more like Beaver Agnostic?

As far as your coaching post, the overcoaching problem that coaches have can sometimes lead to more problems than are actually present. I fully expect the Beavers to be a solid team for the rest of the season. I think the Beavers just need to take advantage of the hittable pitches that they have been taking.

I was addressing jdogge, but that's OK. Knowing when to coach and when not to coach is the job of the coach, right? I do not have inside information regarding how the coaching is being done. I don't want to assume it's overcoaching or undercoaching. It's MC's team. He needs to do what's best for each player. If that means one needs more hitting practice and another needs to be told to loosen up, then that's what he needs to see and to do. That's coaching. That's where good coaching makes a great team.

That's a horrible AB by jones.....watch two strikes then flail at a ball out of the zone....wow 6 for 35 after 7 straight hits to start the season. At what point do we see McDowell? This is who Jones really is as a hitter
