20% of the season gone and we look a lot like the teams in the years when we didn’t hit. Lack of aggressive at bats, letting mid level pitchers dictate the count. No one in our lineup scares the other team. It looks like paralysis through analysis. In the words of Dan Spencer “ somethings you just have to hitch up your pants and be better than that som bitch on the mound”.

Andy A, looks determined to hit the ball somewhere. Early, Jones was ripping the ball but now taking 2 strikes (makes sense lead-off). Last year we were a strike out machine and it looks we are headed in the same direction. The Middle of the order really needs help. I think it might be time to get a couple of the young hitters in the lineup. What is the difference? Off night by the Pitching and we get shut out. Hate to bash any kid but somebody better get in their faces about being tough at the plate. Maybe today the coach has to be polite and ask them to Hit the ball! Please!

Still a small sample, but, the lack of even making contact for hitters at this level is very concerning. There does not appear to be any strategy at the plate. More bad games to follow unless we can get into some sort of groove ! Go Beavers !

It appears to me the players hope to get walked or hit by pitch to get on base because very few swing the bat. When they do swing it appears to be half hearted as if they don't believe they have a chance. I'd rather have somebody, anybody swing aggressively then stand there watching pitches go by with the bat on the shoulder.

The strategy seem to be to take the first pitch then watch the second breaking ball. I am sure someone has the numbers and how often we are down 0 - 2.

I don't have any answers, but I think it's time for Mitch to start thinking about giving some other players some time. It's the heart of the batting order that is killing us. Ober, Casey, Claunch. Ober's at bats show that he's frustrated.

One realization I had last night was that we let way too many strikes cross the plate with the bats on our shoulders. Sometimes that's a strategy, but not all the time.

Crowd the plate and do everything you can to work the count to your favor ... standing there , perplexed until it is 0-2, is never a good strategy . Really miss the Steven Kwans and those types of guys that always set the table and started the hit parade . Do we even have a hitting coach ? Seems like with all of the ex Beavs around , we should be able to get things turned around !

Look, we got our asses handed to us last night by the quacks. That CANNOT happen today....this is a big moment for this young coaching staff and this team. Are they gonna let the quacks come in a kick their asses at Goss? I expect a big time response today!

The difference being that he would then make contact with lots of nasty pitches until he got something he could handle. Often worked. The 3 guys who are probably doing most of the batting instruction are Gipson, Barney, and Wong. The hitting philosophy probably hasn't changed. The ability to implement that method isn't working as of yet, and the contact aspect on tough pitch counts is sorely lacking. Pound the duckers today and all is well.

Really sucks that the first home run at Goss this year was by a Duck.

It seemed to me like Kwan never got serious until he had two strikes. Best two strike hitter I've seen in a long time. He'd be 0-2 in the count and I would be thinking that they had him right where he wanted them.

We have guys that can hit, they just have to battle better at the plate. Hate to lose to them uckkies, but I am not going to panic about the hitting yet. Any word/rumor/guess on Abel's status? That is what has me a bit worried.

Grenier always went 0-2 seemed like as well
