Why are we concerned about that? We should be rejoicing that they are having to now recruit the scraps in the portal. Scott will snag a couple really big big names out there that will put anything they have gotten out of the portal to shame. Just wait and see what he has in the works. the Beavs WBB program "big big names" are: Corosdale, Jones, Brown, von Oelhoffen, Kampschroeder, Mitrovic and a few other really good players. I'm good with that. Me too, but wouldn't mind having another proven talent in the backcourt.

Even Stanford needed to pickup a player: Former Northwestern WBB player Jordan Hamilton (5-8 SR point guard, Frisco, TX) has landed at Stanford, their first-ever grad transfer gostanford.com/news/2021/5/26

I know, not OSU, but this thread has been about the Portal in general too. As someone said about the coaches in the Pac-12 swapping schools, "Carousel" they called it, the same is happening with players. The two UW players that went to Colorado, Endyia R. going either U of zero or AZ, plus others I can't think of and now this: Arizona State WBB transfer Keeli Burton-Oliver (6-3 FR forward/center, Seattle, WA) will remain in the Pac-12, signing with Washington State wsucougars.com/news/2021/5/28The announcers next season will have pages and pages of notes to deal with, "Oh, this player was with ___ pac-12 school" and that assistant coach used to be with ___. Other than this, no Portal changes for Pac-12 schools.

And they probably will. They don't lose many they seriously go after. Disgusting.

Trying to rebuild after the four that left. It’s not how many top players they go after...it’s how many stay for four years.

Trying to rebuild after the four that left. It’s not how many top players they go after...it’s how many stay for four years. And, as has oft been pointed out on this board, there's only a total 200 minutes of playing time to divvy up. This becomes more of a factor with the extra year of eligibility. 2022 recruits would normally look at 2020 freshmen and think they'll be juniors when they arrive. But they won't; they'll be sophomores. If somebody's starting at your position (Pao Pao for example), she'll be there through your junior year. That's not a problem for us, as our whole freshman class, except Jelena, left. Our 2022 quiver is pretty much full anyway, and we're looking at 2023.

The Ducks are bringing in a lot of big time talent. They're now a destination school with a national rep and they are trying like hell to make the most of it.....
A few side tidbits: Arizona is in the running for a lot of the very same players Oregon is chasing....the scoresheet on that will be very interesting....
I'd rather see the Ducks get Rogers than Arizona because I think Barnes will get a lot more mileage out of her than Graves can. Plus Rogers and PaoPao won't fit into the same gym much less the same backcourt. She might find herself watching from the bench a lot more than she is being told.
Gawd I hope we can get into Gill this season. I'm already getting itchy just thinking about the Beavs taking on all these teams and their great players.....Fun times....
And, in case anyone's forgetting, Rueck has signed some of America's absolute best players, and he's now looking at the richest collection of incoming WBB talent ever seen in OSU history.
I'm pumped.....GO BEAVS!!

Yuckies are working on 2022 this week and as pointed out Scott has 2022 pretty much full anyways. Love that Scott is ahead of the curve but I suspect the rest of the pac-12 will catch up. Now lets get those assistants hired!
On Thursday afternoon, the Ducks landed a verbal commitment from four-star guard Jennah Isai of Surprise (Ariz.). Isai, a 6-foot guard, acts as the first commitment in Oregon's 2022 recruiting class.
Isai was one of five official visitors on campus starting on Tuesday. She offered Oregon a verbal commitment on Wednesday and announced her decision on social media on Thursday afternoon.
With recruiting restrictions lifted for the first time in over 15 months to open June, Oregon hosted four prep recruits for official visits this week starting on June 1. The Ducks also have had five-stars Chance Gray and Grace VanSlooten and four-star Kennedy Basham on campus. USC transfer guard Endiya Rogers also visited.

I see Endiya Rogers chose Oregon. Overall, I think that is the better decision. Really curious how Maddie Scheer will react to this. My guess is she will stick around another year, and if she still isn't getting minutes, transfer after that. For her sake, I think the better choice is to transfer now, but who knows, maybe things will still work out at Oregon.

Arizona has added two really good front court players to add to Cate Reese, Lauren Ware, and company. Their backcourt has potential with Chavez, Conner, Anna Azi, etc. If they add Endiya to that group, they may end up top 2 in the conference. If Oregon adds Endiya to go along with Paopao, Scherr, Bigby, and the transfers Hurst and Hosendove in the backcourt, along with Sabally, Prince, and Parrish up front, they may be good enough to end up top 2. The Beavs have their work cut out for them, but their transfers may put the Beavs in the hunt for top 3 as well.

rmancarl: Your comments are usually spot on, but I'm having trouble making sense out of the last sentence in your post: "The Beavs have their work cut out for them, but their transfers may put the Beavs in the hunt for top 3 as well."
Not really sure which transfers you think will genuinely strengthen next year's team. Seems to me a good chance exists that none of them will even be starters.... I know you have something in mind, wanna help me out with this?? Thanks.... GO BEAVS!!

GO BEAVS!! 411500, to clarify, the "transfers" are just a peice of the puzzle. For the Beavs to finish top 3, I think most of the following needs to happen: Taylor needs to play more minutes and/or Jelena needs continued improvement. ( I think this is likely to happen). Taya needs to play/shoot like she did in the final 6 games of last year (10-21 from 3) and/or Kennedy needs to return healthy and not rusty. (I don't have as much faith in this one). Ellie needs to show continued improvement and/or Emily C needs play as she did two years ago. ( I think one of these is likely to happen) Talia needs to play point with close to the same efficiency as Aleah did. I said efficiency, not production. Someone (AJ, Tea, Greta...) need to provide strong 2 guard play with the ability to provide offensive production. (not sure how I am leaning on this one). Of course there is a lot more than what I mentioned, but that's enough of my thoughts. Let me explain how I feel about the transfers. Tea has 81 starts and has been remarkably consitent averaging between 9 and 11 points each of the last 3 seasons. My guess is that she will provide solid backup minutes to Talia, and some minutes at the 2 spot. I really like Emily's game if she can return healthy without showing rustiness. Her stats are so Mik like. Her stats in 2019/2020 before getting injured: 14.5ppg, 8.4rpg, 53.1%fg and 37.5 % from 3. I'm high on her game and believe she could be a difference maker in how the coming season goes for the Beavs. Truth is, I'm not sure I could even guess correctly on who the starters will be this year, but I do beleive the team may be deeper than I ever remember. There is a really good thread on the recruiting board (espnw rankings) regarding the accuracy of high school girls rankings. I doubt we would all agree on ranking the best players at OSU right now, and I doubt we would all agree on who the starters will be. That's how difficult player ranking is. By the way, if you read my thoughts on Talia in that thread, just know, I completely disagree with myself now.
