2024 WBB Recruiting

Seems like the interest (at least for now) between Mallegni and Oregon State may be waning, per a recent article:

“She’s also a player numerous colleges covet. The recruiting process initially was exciting for Teagan Mallegni, but then became a bit overwhelming, her mother said. Sara Mallegni said Iowa, the University of Wisconsin, Oregon, Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, Louisville and Ohio State currently are top candidates.“

Still a lot of targets left in 2024 — not sure any stand out, though Gibb, Blakes, Howell, Prince, Edwards, and Fiso have all been on campus.

It's going to be very interesting seeing who the Beavs land for 2024. So far, with Jenny as the recruiting coordinator, the Beavs have only landed in state players (the 2022's were already committed). If Jenny doesn't play a major role in landing a big time recruit, there will be doubters on this board, especially when you consider the influence BH and JF seemed to have with recruits.

I'm curious to see what kind of reach the Beavs have outside the west coast now. The team hasn't been as successful on the court, and the recruits from distance (Goforth, Brown, Jones, Sammuel, VanKamp) haven't stayed with the program. I do think it is good news that Beers absolutely loves Oregon State, and her and Timea seem to have some kind of bond. I think Reagan's attitude will inspire the strengthening of "We are family".

That’s good to hear — four is about what I was anticipating for that class. Think we’ll definitely need a PF and C, probably a wing and PG too.

I like the idea of keeping things focused on the west coast and international. We’ve been so-so on international recruits, but there’s always some good ones out there. Can be hard to keep it entirely west coast because we haven’t recruited California well and that’s where a lot of the top kids are, but it would be nice to get Fiso.

Blakes is my favorite target for 2024, but I give the Beavs almost no shot at landing her. It reminds me of the Chole Kitts recruitment. I would be interested in knowing who the Beavs are making inroads with. I haven't really heard of any 2024's who are serious about the Beavs, but I hope they are out there.

I'm sure the competition isn't great, but looks like she can play the three or the four. Scores it on all three levels, solid handle, strong frame -- lots to like.
