I still feel pretty good after watching this game. I'm sure part of that is because I don't have any expectations for this season. There have been way too many obstacles that would make it very difficult for this to be a strong season, and not having much scoring this season from the 3 and 4 positions hurts way too much.
I see this game as gaining experience for a bright future. Sasha is a stud. I want to say best freshman to come along in long time, but the Beavs have had a lot of good freshman the past 10 years, but she is right up there with the best of them. Sasha is just one of a number of very good underclassman in the program and in the pipeline.
I would have loved to see the Beavs win this game, but Stanford did what great teams should do, and the Beavs did what teams full of young talent are going to often do when playing a great team. I'm confident that this young talent will be that Great team in the near future.
Honestly, Stanford was playing very well in the first half, crisp passing, good shooting, including from 3 range, and the Beavs stuck with them. The first half wasn't close becuase Standford played poorly. They were playing well.
Anyway, a Timea Gardiner or Raegan Beers would have been very helpful in the game. Hopefully Kennedy Brown will bring some of what the Beavs are missing this year. I still believe the Beavs will go a bit smaller next year with Talia, Aleah, Sasha as their starting guards/wings, which should provide more punch from the '3' spot, I'd love to see someone provide points at the 4 as well.

Three things I'm not understanding about that game.
1- Why was the Beav's all time 3pt shooter taking mid-range shots over and over again?
2- Why are the guards helping on defense inside so much when everyone and their grandma is shooting 3's and making them?
3- When the Trees went small the SR went small. Why did SR recruit Mitro if he's only going to play her against tall backup posts. Maybe she wasn't healthy but SR has a bad habit of following the other team when they go small. If he keeps this up he's going to be looking for another backup post next season.

Way too many on this 13 women roster that we get little production out of.

It looked like Aleah took a bad knock to the head in the first half, I wouldn't be surprised if she had a concussion from the high impact, I hope she's okay.
Stanford just too good on the day. Go Beavs

Late in the game, only Aleah looks like she can still hang with Stanford's athleticism. Disappointing poise shown by the team to close this game. huh? Aleah looked just as tired as the rest of the team to my eyes. Her 4Q production certainly wouldn't argue otherwise. She took a pretty hard hit to the head early in the game. Williams fell on her pretty hard. Missed a lot of mid range jumpers after that. Basically Stanford is just a much better team. They win that game 9 out of 10 times....maybe 10.

I too thought this game was a really good thing for TVO, Sasha and Samuel. That was a 400-level class on they will need to be capable of to make a deep tourney run.

My observations on this are: 1. We need a true PG that is fast and quick Ari McDonald type. 2. Screens are poorly set and even worst used by dribbler I am far from sold on Petrovic. She is just too slow.

For whatever reason, we get zero help from zebras when teams try to get super physical with us. We tried to match the physical play, but on one end Sasha finally puts an arm out to get a little space and gets whistled for the offensive foul and then at the other end HJones drives out of control right through Mack and it's a blocking call. Lots of slapping and bodying up our players while we were shooting near the basket, and then a halo around them at the other end.
Really hard to win games like that when you are physically outmatched, and the refs punish you for it.

Let's not forget that Stanford is one of the best teams in the country and that they have been able to consistently practice and play this season. This was our first game back from a two week break, I have no idea if all of the players were able to practice this time around. We know that the first time they were having trouble getting enough players to scrimmage.

We know that the first time they were having trouble getting enough players to scrimmage. From the post game interview with SR, they only had 2 full strength practices prior to the game. There was no mention of how many were out, but the postponements last weekend mean they were below 7 scholarship players available.

I don't want to rain on some of yours parade but if the lady beavs practiced the same amount of time as Stanford the outcome would be pretty much the same.

A positive Covid test means quarantine for those that were in contact that person.

Colorado beat Stanford. OSU beat Colorado, twice. Stanford beats OSU. The old transitive property not applying.
