I think the offense would be very well served if Mitrovic and Jones, TVO, Goodman, and Simmons would spend an hour a day working on the pick and go. When this play is run properly, it is damn near impossible to defend, as our friends down south ran it almost to perfection. That would also help open the outside for the 3's. Jusy my opinion.

Taylor needs to get deeper and make quick moves and develop different moves like a drop step and (the best shot in basketball) a hook and jump hook. Then use them as fakes in future touches with a spin move if they attempt to stop the hook shots. These should be developed in High School, but rarely is.

I think they still run it especially with Prince this year.

When I was looking for video I actually debated using the I/Hebard duo as examples. I agree I've seen it quite a bit with Prince too. No matter the example, sure would be great to put in the arsenal. Thanks for the other analysis on the comment too.

Here is what I posted about Taylor after the 1st Utah game back on Dec. 8th:
"Taylor's lack of basic instinctive low post moves was really exposed tonight....Utah was not double-teaming her but Taylor didn't have the moves to take advantage of this. When she got the ball down low it was like....hmmm.....I've only got 1 defender on me...what should I do....should I turn to the left or right.....let me peek behind me to see where the defender is....ok I'll go left....so 4 seconds later-(post player fundamental#1=make quick turns & shoot or quick fake one way & turn the other way&shoot before the defender is set+ready--gotta be quick&instinctive with these moves or you will get blocked!)....so she makes one awkward dribble to the left and ball batted away-(post player fundamental#1A=do not put the ball on the floor when making your moves!!). Simple quick instinctive post moves like these are not in Taylor's game amazingly enough....This is stuff I taught and drilled into my post player daughters when they were in grade school...be quick and decisive with your move when you get the ball down low--even 1-second of hesitation/thinking what to do will allow the defensive players to block you or double team you, and also to never put the ball on the floor when making your low post moves.....It is really shocking to me that a player of Taylor's experience and ability has never been taught these elementary post player fundamentals!"
Now that being said when Marie G. came here as a freshman she was a good straight-up shooter inside of 12 ft from day 1, but she didn't have the instinctive quick low post moves in her arsenal but over the course of her 4 yrs here she developed those low post moves until as a Sr. she was one of the best in the nation with her footwork and low post moves, and she also added a nearly unblockable step-back jump shot that was effective out to about 15 ft......So there is hope for Taylor's low post game but it will take alot of work on her part this next off-season!

I don't care how negativism there is, I'm still rooting for Tippecanoe and Taylor too.

I am 1000% with you. The team seems to know that they are on the ropes as far as the tourney is concerned. Secondly , the part of our game that WAS lacking , was legitimate point guard play . This is obvious when TVO is in the game, of course. however the girls off the bench are picking up on the new / required style of play , and they are inspired . Both the defense and the offense has improved with the new focus . The passes are not only intended to assist with the easy 2's, but, they are allowing us to spread the floor and create more three point space or lanes to the hoop . As Regards Taylor, this has to develop, because forcing the ball into her - with no space, has been only partially successful . She is a great talent that will get her part of the game under control , depending on what the defense gives her . I am sure she would much rather have the freedom and space to shoot rather than being cramped by a double or triple team that is also aggressively fighting for the rebound . I love her being on the floor - even being undersized , she is a force with her reach and athleticism!

Exactly how much kinesio tape does Taylor have to put on her shoulder for people to notice? She's dealing with a shoulder injury. And this isn't a recent development either. Look back at this post in the game thread for the first Utah meeting. I only noticed the cupping on one shoulder (I believe it was the same shoulder that was taped vs. Colorado), but it may very well have been both shoulders. The covid shutdown presumably could have been used as a period of rest and complete recovery if it were a short-term issue, so the fact that she is still dealing with this injury is concerning. Of course, Taylor's a gamer and will play thru pain for 40 minutes if asked, but at this point she seems to be a bit more productive if rested for a few minutes at a time (in other words, she can deal with stopping and going vs. a rhythm player who needs to stay on the floor). Jelena's improvement may provide Rueck the opportunity to do just that.

There’s only a small number of players taller than her in the whole league. She does lack some leaping ability, but she’s not undersized.

And she's got long arms, which is more important than height anyway.

Being yanked, repeatedly, after two first half fouls--Scott's conservative error--has influenced her game more than any other factor. Bench after three, not two.

Replying to the 6'4" comment . There are 6 ducks from 6'4" to 6'7", Utah has 4 over 6'4" ! I know , they all have short arms . The tallest girl we have to play Center is actually 2 girls , both over 6'8". But - again Taylor has an advantage because she has long arms ! She is, at most , average sized for a PAC 12 Center today !

You can’t count a girl that’s not eligible. UW, WSC, Colorado, UCLA, ASU have none over 6’4”. The rest of the teams have one or two max and some of them don’t even play. As I said, she is not “undersized”
