Late in the game, it seemed like Rueck alternated between this two-deep chart: PG: Goodman/von Oelhoffen SG: von Oelhoffen/Goforth SF: Goforth/Simmons PF: Corosdale/Mack C: Jones/Mitrovic Mack looks so much more comfortable at the four than the three, was nice to see her hitting her three pointers and finally starting to look like the player that many of us had expected after seeing her film while at Bucknell. Jelena has definitely made some strides. She's more patient and is getting to more balls. Nice to think that we'll have the post tandem of she and Jones for two more years after this one. Shouldn't that be three since this year doesn't count?

ASU rallied from a big early deficit to grab a lead, but now UCLA is up 6 w/ 2 and change left.
I'm kinda thinking Charisma Osborne is my current leader for Pac 12 POY. Players like McDonald and Haley Jones didn't run away with it, leaving it open for someone else to emerge.

UCLA barely hung on.
Standings sure do look better than they did a week ago. Ahead of Utah and Colorado, tied w/ USC, 1/2 game back of ASU, Washington St. is falling fast. Top 4 is probably realistically out of reach but around 6th sure sounds a lot better than 10th they were possibly looking at.

Bottom line is that it was a good road win in a tough place to play especially considering the altitude. Colorado is not an easy out anymore and will beat you if you don't come focused and ready to play and we caught a break today with their star pg Sherrod out with injury. The game shouldn't have been that close=we had way too many absolutely dumb TO's.....even the Col. announcer couldn't believe some of them chuckling "well we'll take it"! We had 3 players who really stood out today....I thought Aleah really showed her Sr. leadership today and came up big whenever we needed her with all facets of her well-rounded game....kind of like Mik did for us last year, Ellie had her 2nd strong game in a row and looks really confident in her game now and is finally showing her league player of year form that was advertised, and TVO continues to impress with a well-rounded offensive skill set with some highlight reel passes and deep 3's.....the Col. announcer was certainly impressed with her play! Taylor didn't show up tonight for some reason but Mitrovic played decently in relief. Taya and Sasha both played ok....Taya led us with 7 rebounds and Sasha was 4-6 2pt FG's but 0-4 3pt FG's after going 6-7 3pt FG's in the previous game....most likely Colorado made it a point on defense to shut her down from 3pt area. Jaz Simmons in 22 min. had 0 pts, 1 assist, and 2 rebounds.....I would like to see S.Samuel get some of her minutes.....despite some of her Frosh errors she makes things happen when she's in there....she never got a chance to get going today with only 6 total min. in 3 or 4 short 1-2 min. stints.

I thought Jelena outplayed Jones today, and was rewarded by more minutes. CU had an answer for Taylor's game around the rim, less so for JM's mid-range game. JM also with 2 assists - her ability to pass from the high post is something I hope we really develop moving forward. And even with her lack of speed, her presence on defense is something the whole opponent is aware of. TVO with 5 TOs wasn't a great number, but I think that includes that beautiful pass to Simmons that she couldn't handle. Disappointing to see Simmons hustle down the court for a easy shot and not ready for a pass that finds her. The combo of TVO's arm and Simmons speed down the court can get easy points every game if executed. Goforth's 3s were defended much better than UW; seems like both her and Mack are deadly open, but their % drops fast when defenders are closing. I thought Taya's defense was a big reason why Hollingshed didn't get much in the 2nd half. He's a bad matchup for either of our 5s; Taya being able to defend a big who can stretch the defense is really valuable. And hey, we broke even on the offensive rebounds! Watching the game, it felt like a deficit again, as it seemed they recovered a lot of back-rim caroms again. I really don't understand this teams lack of swarm to a defensive board, so many times you them standing and watching who's going to go get it. Somehow that needs to become everyone believing it's their board until proven otherwise. In any case, glad that was a win - knew it would be tough one going in. They had won their last two games at home (Cal and Stanford) and played ASU tough on the road, so they've been playing well.

I thought Aleah had great range on her three shot, TVO is every bit as good. 5 feet beyond the men's line seems to be nothing to them. They really stretch the court.

So far in each game TVO has made two passes that have bounced off of team mates who just weren't expecting it. Just not expecting a high school kid to be making these passes. They will learn.

The progress I'm witnessing with Mitrovic every game is highly encouraging. Shooting from range, can dribble out of trouble, great court vision, solid passer, and, a defensive presence that changes shots in the key.
Taylor is really struggling on the offensive end. Taylor seems uncertain what she is going to do once she receives the ball. Taylor has to become decisive and know what she is going to do with the ball before it arrives.

I believe Mitrovic wasn't ready for the college game...the speed and strength especially. When she gets stronger and adjusts to the American college game, she is going to be a very solid PAC-12 player. With the addition of Von Oelhoffen,Goforth,Kampschroeder, and Brown next year with Mitrovic, the future is bright. Hoping Goodman can return and this team could be very good again. This year was a transition year imo for osu WBB.

Where are Smails “enlighten” comments on the game? They’re 3-5 in conference and in 8th place. Time to pop the champagne!

It seems worth noting that we're at about the number of games when we would normally be entering Pac-12 play. The pre-season has always been important in setting rotations and the like, a task even more essential this year with only two returning starters.
