Well that was more like what we were expecting to see this season after hearing all pre-season about how good of 3pt shooters this team was!....Some are saying it was the result of poor UW defense....but I think it was the result of more passing and better ball movement on offense and less dribbling around....and yes a good portion of that better ball movement was TVO....and that girl has basketball smarts as evidenced by the quick TO call when she was flat on the floor in the corner surrounded by UW players, and when she bounced the ball off the defenders knees when she was running out of time trying to inbounds the ball....usually don't see that stuff from a freshman in her 2nd ever college game! Really a great game by all of the team....It was really nice to see Sasha bounce back from some sub-par efforts both on offense and defense, and also great to see Taya finally getting the feel back in her shooting and overall game, and Ellie finally showing up as advertised, and I just love Savannah's game....she brings so much quickness and energy with her out on the floor for her 6'1" size and is disruptive on defense also knocking passes down and getting steals etc.....I hope the coach sees what she brings to the team and starts giving her more minutes....she has earned them!

Some of you folks on here are nuts. Always something to complain about. Shooting 73% and up by 23 at half. Yes, getting healthy with UW, but seriously. Best post on this thread so far.

I think Savannah has the length, speed, quickness, and athleticism to become a very good disrupter on defense and a "dawg" on the boards. Her basketball IQ and hustle indicate to me she could easily fill this role. This team could sure use someone like that. Just my 2 cents.

I took my first look this season at Realtime rpi. I see they have OSU at #217 rpi. UW #152. Realtime has OSU by 3, 68-65 in what essentially is a toss-up game. Well so much for Realtime RPI ratings!.....OSU 98 - UW 68

The problem with Savannah is she doesn't quite know when to be aggressive and when to let the game come to her. I think she will get it with experience, but her playing time is probably a function of her making mistakes/bad decisions with the ball.

I look at her as being a little less polished than the other freshmen (Talia and Sasha), but the athletic ability, long arms, disruptive defensive ability, and aggressiveness, make for the possibility of a promising future. I see now why SR liked her so much. I like what she is showing as a freshman. I hope she continues to grow in her abilities.

In a normal season, whatever that is, right now the Beavs would have had several solid weeks of practice, just be finishing up the preseason and getting ready for January and the Pac-12. No people getting sick or covid cancellations, would have had a summer to play pickup together, and a lot of other things. There is so much talent on this team and last night we got to see it get beyond the disruptions and into the on-court focus.

Me for one! Hopefully our new Freshman fills the bill. Goodman is a real favorite of mine, but a point guard she is not. One game does not a season make! I trust Scott, but Destiny leaving really hurt and now she is eligible to play an additional year.

I trust Scott, but Destiny leaving really hurt and now she is eligible to play an additional year. I don't think that Aleah is as good of a point guard as Kianna Williams or Aari McDonald or even Destiny (although I personally prefer Aleah's 'style' over Destiny's, but respect those that have the alternate opinion.) However, our slow, dribbles too much, non-athletic, "not a point guard", lack of leadership skills point guard is in the top 5 in just about every offensive statistical category, to include assist/turnover ratio. And I think she made pac-12 all defensive team last year. If that isn't a point guard, I am not sure what is. static.pac-12.com/sports/basketball-w/pdf/20-21/Pac-12_WBB_Stats.pdfTalia is a great addition and is definitely going to make the team much better. She is definitely the point guard of the future and may turn out to be better than those that came before her. We will see.

She is definitely the point guard of the future and may turn out to be better than those that came before her. We will see. There's a reason why it's a popular opinion - it's like watching Harden dribble the air out of the ball while his teammates stands around, except she doesn't have the same step-back 3. Also, what doesn't show up in these stats are shot clock violation TOs (given to team, not individual) that her dribbling sometimes causes, and forced low-percentage shots taken when the clock is running down. Maybe it is indeed a misguided opinion though, given that our problems are more on the defensive side. We are certainly better with her than without, it just seems we'd be better if she wasn't asked to set the offense in motion.
