Didn't matter at all, but gave up 17 O boards and had 19 TOs. Definitely things to work on.
65% shooting overall, 18-27 on 3's. Ties a school record for most made 3's in a game (I think the other one was also against the Huskies), and one off the conference record.

Wow, TVO is just perfectly what this team needs. Zero panic in her game. Her inbounding the ball late in this game, nobody is getting open. First time, bounces it off the defense for another try at around 4.5s. Second time, nobody getting open, so she leads a player open on a deep inbound pass. A little later, she steals the ball, on the floor and calls a timeout to preserve possession before the defender can tie her up. The game clearly slows way, way down for her.
I had a lot of concern about her defense at this level, as well as her ball handling. So far her defense has been adequately quick and smarter than I expected. Her ball handling is also better than I expected it to translate. Meanwhile, she makes everybody around her WAY better, at least in this game. Yes, everybody played well, but form my view she's the one that kept solving UW's defensive adjustments.
And yes, I have a new basketball crush.

Goodman, Goforth and Corosdale are 9-9 on 3 pt. shots. Not bad. These three finished at 13-15. Not bad.

Imagine what her high school opponents must have suffered through (a whole year or two ago). Like: "who is this girl ?!?!?!?!" Thankfully she came out early to boost this OSU WBB team.

Just wait til she actually gets to practice w/ the team some and learn the offensive and defensive schemes. Pretty incredible that she only joined them about a week ago.

I would have loved to see this team with a full season.
Oh wait, there's a good chance we will be able to next year. Add Kennedy back into the mix and give this experience to Sasha, Savanah and TVO. I think we will be competitive.

Add Kennedy and Kampschroeder...with Goforth,Von Oelhoffen, and Samuel, the future looks bright. Kind of a blip on the radar this year. Ron Callan was on the JoeBeaver show today. Said he expects big things from Mitrovic in the future. Mitrovic realizes she needs to get stronger, and how much faster the game is. Her future is real bright too.

I think that Jas is going to benefit as much as anyone for the extra year. Damn she is fast.

Wow! That was great for the girls. Nothing like opening a can of whoopa$$ on the opponent before going on the road. TvO brings a ton of relief to Aleah having to do everything. This kid has done nothing but impress. TvO was 6 for 6 at the foul line! When was the last time we had an OSU WBB player not miss a free throw? Calling the timeout after diving to the ground for the ball was big time. We got a winner!
I'm optimistic about next year if we get Kennedy Brown back. Nice to see Taya hit 4 3-pointers and drive to the hoop. I think it was a conscious decision on the part of the coaching staff that Aleah did not dribble the entire shot clock. It was nice to see the ball moving around the perimeter, and, when Aleah got into the key she found the open player on the perimeter.
Let's see if they can carry this forward into Colorado and Utah this weekend.

Lots of warm and fuzzy discussion...I'm fine with that, but let's remember who the Beavs just played. Now if they win at CO and UT this weekend, I will join right in.

Jelena needs to stay a little closer to the hoop on defense. She’s not yet quick enough to be out beyond the free throw line. Quick is like 6'9"; you is, or you isn't. Quick ain't gonna happen for Jelena.

Quick ain't gonna happen for Jelena. Maybe she’ll never be “quick” but obviously speed can be increased over time with training. Any improvement in this area, whether big or small, will benefit her game! I also would not consider her to be slow for her height.

Lots of warm and fuzzy discussion...I'm fine with that, but let's remember who the Beavs just played. Now if they win at CO and UT this weekend, I will join right in. Agreed - one game is not a trend. That said, we learned some things that should pay long-term dividends: a) Jones does not need to be a leading scorer and get a lot of shots for us to win. Additionally, if she's a defensive liability in a matchup, she needs to sit. We didn't have that luxury when she was the only consistent offensive weapon. She is not the only offensive weapon if we have a playmaker on the floor, as this team has plenty of players who can score if they aren't asked to force shots. b) SR has learned the hard way to never lack a player on the roster that manages the game. He had years of Wiese, then somehow didn't have anybody in the wings. He got away with it initially, because Gulich could do it from the high post. After that, Destiny was brought in and played more off-guard than PG because she also does not know how to make the pass that leads to the assist, and we underachieved with PG spilt between two players who lack that. This year, it was a continuation of that gap, and massively underachieved. In her second game, TVO's presence showed the value of having this type of player on the floor. Hopefully, our roster is never bereft of the type of player again. c) Yes, we still suck at TOs and allowing offensive boards. 9 of our 19 TOs were from frosh, so that is more understandable. (That said, PLEASE teach Sasha how to protect her dribble, or tell her simply to not dribble until she is going to fly to the bucket!) Offensive rebounds are not going to be solved until we either get KB back, or someone like TVO/Samuel, etc decides to go get them like Mik - our bigs - even 3/4s on this roster are too slow to go after the long caroms. d) This roster, like a lot of us thought in the pre-season, does have a lot of weapons after all. When we go small, we go from looking like a slow team to a very quick team; we saw late something like Subasic/TVO/Samuel/Simmons/Goforth in the game, and that was a LOT of speed/athleticism onto floor. I expect we will be picking up the pace with our rosters in the next few years, at least it will be an option.
