Just speculating, is it possible that Coach Rueck is burned out in terms of coaching? Something(or things)are clearly missing.
Perhaps it is just a lack of talent. In any case, for the last two years or so,most every game we have in the PAC 12 seems to be a case where we are out coached at the end of the game, giving up open 3 pointers through most of the game, and running the same mechanical rigid plays over and over.
The exception to this is that on the last play of any game where we are tied or behind by one or two points,we have one of our players dribble around the back court area and fling up a desperation shot.
I wonder if this is a situation where the Coach's ego is so large, he is not willing to change things to meet changing situations. Clearly Coach Rueck is going to be the Coach here for as long as he wants to be the Coach. The question is what does that mean for the future success or lack of success of the program?

When we win he gets the accolades for great coaching, but close losses like this really do require coaching 1%ers to get the team over the line. He was out-coached. |

I like how he was a genius in the off-season, but is a terrible coach now. And the calls to fire him will begin shortly. There is little nuance among the "fans" on this board. We miss Pivec and Tudor and, yes, the diva known by the name Destiny. The girls had three -- instead of the normal 10-12 non-conference games plus practice -- to work new girls into working as a team. Mack and Subasic, that many fans were certain would be great contributors, have been a bust. Add to that is the reality of missing five games over three weeks -- and practices in between. And y'all, led by you, your honor, expect to compete in a stacked conference, need to get a grip. |

Super frustrating playing a team that wants to turn the game into a wrestling match, and the refs oblige. Wazzu is a bad match up for this team. Especially when we are still figuring out who goes where in this line up. Lots of miscommunication and second guessing makes us slow, out of synch, and soft offensively. Other than Goodman, and TJ inside 6' nobody seems to be confident in what they're doing. Goforth had some good drives, but tends to go too fast and loses control.
TVO looks like she can definitely help this team, but had some rookie mistakes in her first college game. Give it time. Rueck will get them straightened out. I'm encouraged that Mitrovic seems to be turning up her game. Goforth struggled to get going in this game, but she has the tools to be great. This team will get better as they figure out how to play together.

Glad to see her go? Are we going to get a PG to replace her anytime soon? Goodman is terrific, but she’s not a creator, she’s a shooting guard in every sense of the word. There’s a reason we had THREE dribbling turnovers in a one minute stretch in 2 OT
