She is not putting up the numbers she expected to in their system. So far she is averaging 14.5pts 3.2 ast a game. pretty much what she averaged at Oregon St. Besides it is not how well she is doing now but how that will translate to the next level. Had she stayed she could have worked on the game she will be expected to play at the next level. Now she will have to adjust once she gets there and in the Pro's unless she is drafted high they will not even give her the chance. Here at Oregon St she would have had to work on skills out of her comfort level but gotten better. At Arkansas she just does what she likes to do. She really has no responsibility to set up other players. They all basically create their own shots.
Those people that are critical of Scott for not gearing his offense totally to her, they can always go follow teams like Arkansas since they play the type of game they like.

You keep saying this, yet the WNBA plays nothing like the way OSU plays. They play a more up-tempo style.

I was referring to the half court game and making the best available decisions. Players athleticism will only carry them so far and its impact diminishes with each level jump. They same kind of adjustment players have to make from high school to college they also will face when the jump from college to the pro's. I just saw in another one of your posts that you might consider Slocum a generational player. Perhaps from that perspective it makes sense to you. However I can tell you she is not even close to being a generational player. Sims was a scoring machine in college and had a real problem adjusting her game to the pro's. She finally did so when she played off guard with the Lakers some years ago. She was the second pick in the draft and that kept her more developmental time. Sims is far more athletic and much faster than Slocum. Speed and athleticism will only carry your so far. Her success will depend on consistent decision making and now is the time when that should be developed instead of focusing on scoring.

However, she’s better than any player on the current team.

I stand corrected, you did not refer to her as a generational player anywhere. As I was skimming the other threads I found a statement that I misread as such. You were referring to Oregon and not Oregon State in reference to losing two elites and a generational player. It was one out of context sentence in a multi quote response on an Oregon St subject and that threw me off.
However, my evalutation of Slocum is not now nor has it ever been as high as yours. And she is not better than anyone that Oregon St has on their roster at present. Goforth is even as a freshman a better player. Slocum has tradeoffs you don't see.

Goforth has the potential to be a big star and team leader for the Beavs. However, she isn't there yet. She has played rather inefficiently offensively thus far, shooting 41.9% from the field, 25% from distance, and 69.2% from the line during her initial sample set. This OSU team's composition has required her to be a scorer, but Goforth has struggled with her shot. Her aggressiveness has resulted in the frosh getting to the line often. A big plus. The Beavs would likely be 5-1 (the blowout win by the Ducks at Gill being the lone loss) thus far (instead of the current 3-3 record) with Slocum running the point, sliding Goodman to the 2, and having Goforth start at the 3. Goforth isn't the contributor (points and assists) to the team's offensive success that Slocum was during her two All-PAC-12 seasons in Corvallis. Goforth's ceiling may eventually be higher than Slocum's, but her production and finishing haven't been able to lift the Beavs to wins over teams (WSU and Utah) that Slocum and her teammates owned during the past two seasons.

Slocum probably might be more productive short term for this team just because she is experienced. Probably not as much as some of you might believe because this is still basically a much different team than last years. Pivec is not here and much of the offense was geared to them both dominating the ball. That would not be available to Slocum with this team. I truly believe that might have been a factor in her leaving. Except to passes into the center position their was very little ball movement except between Slocum and Pivec. They basicall focused on one or the other finding openings to drive. In this type of offense the outside shooters are ignored and only get last option looks. I have stats that reinforce this. Its a trade off.
One area of weakness has been perimiter or man to man defense. Although she improved alot last season, Slocum was never a good on ball defender. Her foot work and spacing has improved but she will always be 5'7" and that is a handycap except for guarding other smaller players. Goforth is already head and shoulders (literally) a better defender as are others on the team. They only area where she excells is in off the ball help because of her speed. I already think Goforth is a greater threat attacking the basket because of her first step. She does not need to create openings by dribbling into position, but attacks openings that exist. She made some bad decisions in that one game, but that was being a freshman. The most important thing though is that her play does not disrupt offensive team flow rather keeps other players engaged and that will have results down the line.
I think Destiny is perfectly capable of playing and producing in that sort of game, but she seems to believe she can not be productive in that type of game. I remember she had her most productive gamees two seasons ago when her points came withing the offensive flow. It is just that players like her have been conditioned throughout their high school careers into playing more isolation ball because against that competions and considering the level of players they usually have on their own teams it is more effective. At the next level she would have to be a more traditional assist point guard to be effective. The drives to the basket will not be availble against the level of competition. Pevic is finding this out and having to adjust. Pivec is most effective shooting the three and her two point percentage is not gooda at her present level. All players have to adjust to some degree but players that rely on drives to the basket need to make better decisions on when they will be effective. The defensive post play is just too good. Slocum, although she is faster will face the same problem because of her size. Making smarter decisions consistantly is something she might have benefited from playing in Scotts system.
It would have been nice had she decided to stay and commit to the system, but she chose not too. I would totally welcome her had she committed to Scotts system, but not they way she and Pevic played last season. She has the perfect right to make her own choices. We don't really know her priorities but can only assume. Players need to believe in the system and their coach other wise the become a negative and disruptive influence. I think in the long run this is better for all and so I don't miss her presence. Scott may have been surprised, but I feel I knew when she made her decision. It was a bit past the half way point I was sure she was not returning.

Willtalk's perceptions about what happened with the OSU offensive system last season and his assumptions about Slocum are so riddled with inaccuracies that I won't quote his long-winded post above lest I get further nauseated. He should stick to what he knows rather than provide analysis on what he doesn't.
Did he really spell Pivec two different ways above in adjacent sentences? When a poster from northern California posts on another program's message board, he should at least do some research, show some respect, and make the effort to spell the players' names correctly. He often offers up "Goodwin", "Pevic", and other lame attempts at identifying OSU players. At least make an attempt to get it right or correct your messes after the fact.

" I remember she had her most productive gamees two seasons ago when her points came withing the offensive flow"
Ben Dull made a video showing what a good scorer Destiny was at the time. What was apparent from that was that a huge % of her scores were coming off of screens by Jo. Jo was a stone wall out there, and if one screen didn't work she'd move over and set another, and another. Destiny has been by far the best Beav at using screens that I've seen during the time I've been back watching the team. And then SR decided the team would be better off with Jo as a scoring option and Destiny's days of 20+ games kind of vanished.
