It's frustrating watching them miss easy lay-ups, jumpers, free throws and guard the three-point shot so poorly. However, this is my team and I'm going to support them unconditionally. We can't blame this on the pandemic, because there are many teams who are playing successfully. I think it's a team chemistry issue and it will have to work itself out. Every player that signs with Oregon State mentions the community and Beaver Nation as main reasons for joining. Both of these support systems are barely visible right now. If any of the players are following this thread, how do you think they'll feel reading some of these comments? Supported? Empowered? Encouraged? The question for us is what are we as one of their support systems going to do about it? Would a group be willing to stand outside and cheer the team as they go from the practice facility to Gill? What about arrive at the end of the game to cheer for them? Do we have an address where we can send letters of encouragement? Things will get better, but they need to see that we care about them whether they are winning or not, playing their best or not. No conditions! When you put on the orange and black, we've got your back! If the players are reading this thread, they shouldn’t be playing for OSU. I’m sorry if you think this thread makes them sad...lol

I was saying that this team is worse than last year? I do didn’t say a damn thing about WSU. Do you think this team is better than last year? I don't think OSU is better this year. This team is looking like a lower third of the PAC, sadly. I can't think of 3 teams that we are better than right now. There will need to be a huge improvement next year to be back in the upper echelon of the PAC12..

I don't think any of you actually watched the game you have such a strong opinion about. The Huskies were terrible, yet still hanging w/in 10-12 points for entirely too long. Oregon has way more talent sitting on their bench than UW has in their starting lineup. Game should've never been close. It's not like UW was shooting lights out or in any other way playing over their head. They basically had 2 players that did anything today. Their guards and wings were useless. And yet somehow Oregon couldn't put them away until late in the game. That indicates to me that Oregon was playing very poorly themselves. As far as the margin for UW-OSU, the way this season is going as long as it's a win it doesn't matter. After losing to Utah and Washington St., can't assume anything about the Beavs right now. So, uo plays poorly and wins by 20+ and we play poorly and lose to a crappy WSU team. What’s your point? May we give nwhoopfan a do over? Maybe we need to look at the differences in poor play?
You can have poor play not doing the fundamental things or you can just play a game where your shots just don't drop. There have been games in the past where we all say the team played poorly but the fundamentals were still there and they bounce back the next game. Then there is playing poorly where it is more than just being off a game for what ever reason.

Looks like Stanford is in the middle of a dumpster fire of their own. Only up by 8 and only 32 points against a bad USC team at half
32 to 24.

OMG! Get a grip, people! I know you're disappointed, but you only have yourselves to blame.
Look at all the talk on this Board prior to the season. Your expectations were way out circling Pluto where this team was in the top three or four of the Conference. We lost two fabulous players; brought in two transfers; three first year players; a pandemic-shortened season; and now what? These girls were no good last season, propped up by Pivec and Slocum. Rueck isn't a really good coach, he doesn't adapt, blah blah blah ... Geez Louise, rather than dis these girls, turn to alcohol. GO BEAVS!!! Yea, I was 2 for 9 today beyond the arc and werebeaver was responsible for 6 turnovers. Judge Smails could not get a defensive rebound to save his life and beav74 could not block out. You need to address your inability to read beyond the first line. You must be one of those who share on Facebook based on the headline.

Several posters have mentioned that we've lost our 2 best players from last year.....I would go a step further and say we lost our 3 best players and include Kat Tudor--not only was she a good long range shooter but she also played with a lot of energy and hustle and scrappiness. I've noticed that in addition to Destiny Slocum's point guard abilities this years team really misses her clutch 3pt shooting under fire in close games, and most of all we miss Mik Pivek's refuse to lose mentality and just taking over in close games in the last couple of minutes and getting it done.....Yes it's going to be a very frustrating season this year without Mik and Destiny and Kat!

There are 4 teams in the conference that I would definitely consider to be better than the Beavers. Stanford, Oregon, Arizona and UCLA. That is not to say the Beavers couldn't pull off an upset against one of those teams (particularly Arizona or UCLA), but I consider the Beavs to be sizable underdogs in each of those games.
The only team in the conference that I would definitively say the Beavers are better than is Cal.
I would lump the Beavers in with the remaining 6 teams in the conference, any of which could win or lose against each other on any given night. The Beavers are only 1-2 in those toss-up games so far, but it is too early to rule out a top half of the conference finish at this point. Slots 5-6 are very much in play.

I agree. Add to this two devastating injuries--Brown's loss is 8 rebounds a game and perhaps the best defender, and I don't know what is wrong with Corosdale, but she is clearly not even close to back to her pre-injury self. Add to this Aquino never taking the court, and I see that I was guilty of thinking that Rueck was so good that he could replace any loss. After all he's done it several times before. The last couple of years have produced unprecedented adversity. We have always had high-character players that are a joy to root for. We still have those kind of players, but they are being asked to fill more gaps than has been the case in Rueck's run. This is indeed something of a true rebuilding (and healing) year, but help is on the way. And the players are still worth rooting for as they play their part in the rebuilding.

This year should inform us all about the things, in life, that seem to be constantly throwing curves at us. In the past , I was really unable to accept losing or to feel more elation than getting a big win. I have been shown that there are things vastly more important than sports and winning or losing. Yes, I still have emotions - one way or another - but these emotions are not nearly as extreme, nor lasting . There are much bigger things - and I prefer to live more constructively. This is all to say that, my own purpose in life, will not be to belittle or question others skills and experiences in the Sports world. I love women's basketball, and I respect what OSU - under Scott , has achieved and built. I will enjoy the wins and quickly forget the losses - it won't be my obsession, nor will it bring me to a point where I actually believe that criticism is necessary. This year has really changed me! Scott and the Beavers will work hard and get it together , this year , or next .. or even after that. I am just going to enjoy my Alma Mater and the skill and commitment of all of our fine student athletes ! There is no rush for me any more ! Stay healthy and enjoy your time on this earth ! Go Beavers

jimbob & markwbeaver nailed it, we lost a lot of skill, toughness, grit, and experience from last year's squad. I'm not sure anyone else could coach-up these kids any better. I do think Rueck made a huge error playing so many players in the first half--we had zero chemistry, with all the players going out of game, and coming into the game, and it showed up in the stats with 15 terrible turnovers. Better second half for sure, but every game we have given up key 3-point shots to some opposing kid who got hot at the right time. Rueck needs to shorten the bench and get some team chemistry with max of 8 kids in the rotation. I couldn't believe Savannah didn't play in the 2nd half? That kid is pure energy, and, fearless. We need fearless players. I saw too much passiveness in Taya, Jas, and Jovannah. Even though we are only 4 games into the 22-game PAC-12 schedule, it is time to get the kids on the floor who are going to play as hard and fearless as I saw in the WSU players yesterday. SS is one of those kids, she should have been on the floor in the 2nd half. She needs minutes. Hopefully she gets them in Seattle. I'm still excited about our team's future. Getting Kennedy Brown back will be HUGE. Thinking back about what a great defender and rebounder she was last year, it is showing up in our stats how much we miss her on the floor. BTW, I have noticed how many more shots the opposing team is getting vs OSU. WSU had 70 FGA to OSU's 50. That is a very large difference. And it all points back to rebounding. Let's keep cheering for these kids, and give them support. This is the time when we need to show up for our kids. GO BEAVS!

This is silly. Oregon plays a quick style that attracts quick players.,Does anyone really think Destiny would have left if we played uptempo? No we stand around even at the end of the game the transfer was dribbling back to basket 3 point area? Like what. Our Freshnsn Center is too slow and not a rebounder . Also inside game under stress is not good. We are unsure and make way to many turnovers. Attack us snd we crumble and are soft. I don’t think Destiny would have left if SR had let her play her style. So tired of watching SR teams run such a controlled offense. For 2 years watched Tudor stand in the corner.....looks like Mack is taking over that role. Stand in corner and hope to get a look. Goodman isn’t a point guard nor is Goforth. This team is in big trouble. Brenda Frese would say otherwise. Also, perhaps you’ve mistaken Tudor with another player, because Tudor was consistently running off of screens. I actually think we need more of what Tudor did this year, not less.

Not sure how anybody expects this team to be better than last years. Was some body recruited or waiting in the wings to be as good as or better than Tudor? Nope. Slocum? Nope. Pivec? Nope.
