A lot about the players being said, but some light must shine on SR.
I actually think he has been out scouted by the other coaches to a certain extent, his style has to adjust to the tempo that the top 4 are playing at in our conference. Our zone allows way too many easy shots and not changing quickly in game has hurt us. Our plays seem pretty predictable at times, we don't move the ball quickly or enough on the offensive end, so we can blame the players for execution but our system is the coaches sphere.
That being said, SR is a genius so things will get better quickly. Will it be enough to be a top 4 contender in the Pac12? I hope so...

We were tremendously hurt this season by the Slocum transfer as others have stated. And we simply swung and missed to a good extent with our Juniors. Jasmine Simmons is blossoming into a solid player, but Aquino's inability to get released and the Morris transfer has left this team very thin at upperclassmen with multiple years in the program. (Not knocking the Senior Transfers at all).
We are definitely rebuilding and didn't "reload" in a traditional sense. But the experience the talented Freshman are getting will be invaluable for our future. Brown, Jones, Goforth, Greta and Talia are all big time recruits comparable to any program in the nation and should change our fortunes soon enough.
I trust the process, even if it means some bumps in the road this and next season.

My prediction..... 10-12 finishing 8th in the conference. I hope I'm dead wrong but just trying to be realistic. Too many things outside of our control. Destiny transferring and Kennedy taking the year to rehab her knee. That...and not having a true point guard that would allow Aleah to play at the 2 guard.

I'm with ricke71. It is way too early to be judging our "new" team. I saw progress in the UO game, in that 2nd half. Rueck just needs to get his top 7 player minutes properly distributed and we will be ok. It is how we finish that matters (Both in PAC-12 regular season, PAC-12 Tournament, NCAA Tournament). Rueck knows what he is doing. He WILL get the team to raise their level of play each week. Don't be surprised to see OSU upset UCLA, Arizona or Oregon as the season goes on. Stanford is at another level - that will be a very steep hill to climb. I'll predict 4th or tie for 4th for the Beavers in Pac12. That means semi's in Pac12 Tourney, and that means maybe a 6 or 7 seed in the NCAA tourney. Pac12 is tough, but OSU has players. Goforth is the real deal. I think she steps up as the point guard with a shift of Aleah off the ball as the shooting guard. You want 3-point scoring, then move Aleah to shooting guard (maybe one of the best shooters in the Pac12). Rueck, Goforth and Goodman are the names that hold the key to OSU success.

I would love to see Aleah at the 2. Sasha at the point. Mitrovic at the 5. I can't believe how many on this board have already mailed in our season. Give the coaches (and players) some time. Steady improvement is what we need to see. The talent is there. Now it is up to the coaches to get them playing as a unit.

We were 10-8 in conference last year, and seriously offensively challenged at times (i.e. 47pts vs. ASU, for example). I do think there's some merit that Rueck's offensive approach has been solved, particularly by some coaches in the league. We get to 80, we usually win. Under 60, we usually lose. 60s and 70s in conference often means a close game and mix of W and Ls. We often depended on our defense getting wins last year, and Brown protecting the rim and Mik cleaning up long defensive rebounds, it was enough to close out a lot of teams. We then lost Brown's rim protection, it was easier to score on us, but our scoring didn't go up without her to compensate. Now we've lost Mik's boards and as well and we now seem to have really lost our defensive identify of forcing tough shots and it being one shot and done. We aren't playing Rueck defense at this point, but I expect it will come.
We also apparently have a bunch of 3 point shooters, but 15% in our last game would say otherwise. 44% vs. Utah indicate that's a strength, but not the defense and rebounding effort.
Overall, I was encouraged that in the last game, the TO number was much better, the rebounding delta was still a problem but better (against a faster, longer team), but our shooting was atrocious. Bad shooting nights happen, so hopefully the overall trend is the right direction. I still very much believe in this team's talent can compete, they just really have a lot to figure out.

I really like the state of the program. The girls are playing for the joy of playing and for each other. They are improving not just from game to game, but as the game goes on. Rueck runs a very complicated program and the fact that there are growing pains at the start of what has to be a very unusual season is not surprising.
I was able to watch some of the Aki Hill years during my college years and later. She loved her players and did everything she could for them and you could see it in the players. They played their hearts out for her and for each other.
Suffered through the wagner dark ages with my butt on the bleachers when beaver fans were often out numbered by the opposition's fans. It didn't take long to see the stress in the players. They were so concerned about not making mistakes that they lost the joy of the game. Their fear of their coach got so bad that they stopped playing for each other, they could only be concerned for themselves.
Spring and summer of 2020 brought so many unique issues that I'm not really putting that same emphasis on these games that I would in a normal year.

Unlike most duck fans I like to see where the team is at the end of the year to evaluate how we did.

Perhaps Little Napoleon should adopt the KISS principle?

Let's try and keep things positive . Scott and Staff know what they are doing and COVID has made this a short team building and system integration process . Since the type of play is recognized as complex , this makes timing even more critical . We can all have our discussions in a constructive way - without resorting to name calling, etc. I cut this program a lot of slack and we can grade everything at the end of the season , as opposed to projecting into the future . I see improved play and potential with the starters and second team, and they will continue to progress ( as will the rest of the PAC 12 ). Go Beavers !

My concern about the team is that recruiting obviously missed out over a couple of years on getting a point guard. Sure We have a freshman next year. The current team has one senior and not much behind her.

Anybody remember January 5th 2018? If you are a Beaver WBB fan, you don't want to. That is the day the team went to UCLA and got thumped 84-49. Yeah, you read that correctly 84-49. Two days later the Beavs bounced back to lose again, to USC 65-61. Those were so depressing times. A 35 point loss is hard to shake. That team, led by Marie Gulich, went on to beat UCLA in their next encounter and make the final 8 that spring.
I don't know that this team has what it takes to make that kind of progress, but I do think there are enough new parts to this team that progress throughout this season should be expected. What SR, the coaches, and players did in 2018 was pretty incredible. It will take an even better coaching job this year to make the top 4 in conference. With Covid, and the wacky schedules, it's going to be a strange year, but I don't think we should rule the Beavs out in December.
