from Wiki: On May 15, 2020, Plum signed a 2-year extension with the Las Vegas Aces worth $350K. In early June, 2020, she suffered an injury to her Achilles tendon. Due to the injury and the surgery to repair it, she missed the 2020 season.

Interesting that Plum couldn't make it in the WNBA. I'm assuming that's why she took an assistant job in college. As Jayvinson points out, Kelsey Plum is under a WNBA contract but was injured this 2020 summer season. She did "make it" in the WNBA having made 80 starts in the previous 3 seasons (2017-19) averaging 8.9 points and 37% on 3's. Because the WNBA season is normally during the summer, she can help coach in the offseason when the women's college basketball season normally is.

I should add Plum isn't officially listed on the staff for Arkansas, she is a grad assistant.

Looks like Arkansas could use an elite point guard to up their team assist level. Arkansas has four (would have been five except for early injury guards who can be labeled as combo guards who are capable of creating their own shots. They don't need a regular point guard per say. In fact their system would not operate with a regular type point. Destiny was perfectly capable of playing the standard point guard role. She just had the mind of a shooting guard, which she now can play at Arkansas without the burdon of having to create shots for others. The system, while not in her long term interests, certainly allows her to play the way she injoys and lets her display her present talents to the utmost. Arkansas basically plays street ball and that works against certain teams and not others. They got rolled by Maryland and would have real problems against many above average teams. I think this season will be a matter of matchups and timing. By timing I mean how well your team plays as opposed to what type of game the opposition is playing. Arkansas was fortunate in that the officials were calling that game so that it favored them. Baylor also could not drop a ball in the ocean and had a really poor shooting night. They also are not very good defensively this season. Losing Brown and then Cox killed their rim defense. Not only did the Razerbacks blow by the guards but there was no one protecting the rim. They had both match ups and timing on their side that night. As for Plum, she had a difficult first season. I watched some of the replays after the season was over and the opposition always targeted her. It was not because necessary game tactics, but rather the players would constantly double team when her play did not warrent it. I believe it was because of the preseason hype she got. It made them resentful and they, collectively, went out of their way to make her first season as difficult as possible. He second season, under normal play, she did very well. Her place in the league is secure.
