I haven't seen Jaquori mentioned, he was a Top 100 player in his class on multiple lists. 247Sports has him as the 6th best "all-time" recruit at OSU. Looking at several school's "all-time" lists it looks as though 247Sports has only tracked it since the 2002 high school class. 14 of the 25 highest rated recruits at OSU since then have been Tinkle recruits, several of them are on the current roster. On the whole he's recruited better at recruiting "stars" than his predecessors going back quite a ways. Having 3 coaches kids as starters for 4 or more years probably did scare off a couple of highly ranked kids, but despite that he really hasn't done that poorly.

Jack Wilson another guy who was a 3/4 star guy. Both didn't pan out but JRoc in particular was a huge get at the time.

Gonzaga has been to the dance every single year since Ben Gregg has been alive. We went that one time and lost to VCU.

Hopefully Someday some people will quit making excuses for Tinkle's lack of recruiting skills. Other than his son and the two Thompson's tell me any other highly recruited kid Tinkle has recruited and landed in the past six years. I will wait. The last excuse was that the Thompsons and Tres took all the playing time. Well two of the three are gone and one is about out the door. Still waiting for a big time recruit. Drew Eubanks. Oregon's 2015 Mr. Basketball, 4 star recruit. Chose OSU over offers from Gonzaga, UW, WSU, ASU, Portland, SDSU, and interest from Purdue.
Alfred Hollins. 2017 4 star out of Arizona. Chose OSU over offers from ASU, Colorado, DePaul, FSU, LSU, uo, and VT. Interest from UVA, Cal, and USC.
No, the list isn't exhaustive, but I don't understand how people don't see the obvious recruiting challenges at OSU. There is no relevant history of success (1990 and earlier is now over 10 years before current recruits were even born), no geographical advantages, no large/rabid fanbase, facilities are average to slightly above average at best, the prestige of the conference is as low as it has ever been, and there isn't exactly a plethora of local talent available year in and year out.
I also don't understand knocking him for recruiting Tres and the Thompson brothers. What other coach has ever brought top 100 talent to OSU, sons or otherwise? They were here, played all four years, and poured everything they had into it. What more can you ask for out of a recruit/player?
As someone said earlier, OSU is a great place to go to school, spend your 3-5 years, and grow as a person as well as a player. What it is not, is attractive to the top 20-30 players in the country who are looking to spend 2 terms in school before jumping to the NBA. OSU will NEVER attract one and done talent (which is most of the 5 star talent everyone seems to want). It just won't happen. You can't compare recruiting in MBB and football to any other sport because they simply are entirely different beasts than the minor sports.
High profile recruits in both sports will always choose the program that gives them the most exposure for the next level (Duke, UNC, UA, Kansas, etc.). The NCAA/NBA allowing one and dones forces a program like OSU to find guys that want to commit to a program or school that they plan on being at for 3+ years, guys that want to be here for the right reasons and who are a great fit for the program the coaching staff wants to build.
Obviously I want OSU to be successful, I wanted us to land Gregg, and I do think that WT and co. have their flaws with recruiting. At the same time however, we have to realize that unfortunately we are not in a place as a program where we can demand top notch recruits year in and year out. I happen to like a lot of the guys that this staff has brought in the last two classes. I think there are some good pieces in there that can contribute and lead to some better basketball than a lot of people are expecting this upcoming season (if a season happens). Rankings aren't everything. If this staff finds the right fit of guys that want to be here I don't see any reason they can't be successful.
MBB post of the year....obviously you get it.

Yeah, the issues with OSU is NOT recruiting. Tinkle is a fine recruiter given where we are. I think we CAN question his talent development and strategy at times.... If we want to knock something. lets knock the right things. Talent is there. It isn't being actualized.

I’m not able to see the “fine” recruiter in him to date, but that’s just me. You have to recruit the kind of players that you can keep, that want to be there.

Some blame the location of Corvallis as the reason tinkle can't recruit. Yet some guy down the hall by the name of Rueck can recruit elite talent to the same Corvallis. Apparently the women don't like to Get out and enjoy the bright lights.

The men go where they can get to the NBA. The women actually have education and staying 4 years in mind when they pick a school. And yes, the women don't care as much about the glitz and $$ that a program has versus the men.

What I enjoy about watching Oregon State is that the Beavers have played very smart on offense under Tinkle. Oregon State's half-court offense has been great. His half-court set plays are talked about glowingly throughout the Conference, something that the other teams have to work on to stop. Having said that, since 2016, his teams have been slow. There is just not had enough speed to be great in transition both offensively and defensively. Additionally, end of game strategy is often very puzzling. And generally poor perimeter defense that is also slow? Yuck! Even with Tres, perimeter defense has been generally awful. With no KK and no Tres, who is going to step up and defend this year? Even if Ethan stays healthy Wayne is going to have to answer some big questions at four positions in order for this season to be great.
