Given that college athletic departments would be financially ruined without football revenue, I have little doubt that games will happen. Whether or not many fans choose to attend is a huge question though. As much as I love sports, I can’t really see attending games in crowded arenas or stadiums at this point. Politics aside, this is becoming an exercise in Darwinism.

beaverfever - - if you are trying to demonstrate galactic ignorance in one sentence you're doing a good job. If you have something relevant to say about COVID-19, why not say it in a coherent, thoughtful manner?
I'm from a family of doctors and nurses and they put their life on the line everyday fighting this disease. GO BEAVS !!

I will repeat my request: If you have something relevant to say about COVID-19, why not say it in a coherent, thoughtful manner. GO BEAVS !!

24 votes in and we are deadlocked at 12 votes for yes and 12 for no.
It really reflects how divided our opinions are with respect to how quickly our nation will be able to get back to some sense of "normalcy" as sports fans. We simply just don't know and are hoping for the best. That and praying is really all we can do.

Looks like politics is fair game on the boards now or am I misinterpreting some of the posts? If so it gonna get ugly in here real, real quick. So each year it seems politics is creeping into the sports world on boards and at games. Raise your hand if you just want one area of your life where you can enjoy something without the political ping pong. Because folks it is split right down the middle. Cant you all get along?

I might add what the country needs right now is sports. I see more unity as one as college games with black white or whatever than with any other event. And some dont want sports to happen? Sports is a great healer whether one wants to admit it or not. I have seen it at tailgates and in the stands first hand. Sports is a great uniter.

The way I see it, the US economy is being destroyed by the pandemic on multiple fronts: Unemployment, social unrest (idle hands are the devil's workshop), budget deficits, worry and unhappiness, bankruptcies, wealth inequality (government bailing out the hedge funds, junk bonds, etc). This is a national emergency if there ever was one. The luminaries who run this country need to understand the true severity of this.
There is no doubt in my mind that there is a vaccine candidate out there that is safe. The bozos in charge of this country seem unable to do anything because there is some miniscule risk that a vaccine might backfire. Well DO something extreme to mitigate that risk! Expand and accelerate the trials of these vaccines! If they put a $trillion into it then they COULD achieve enough confidence to release a vaccine this year and it would be worth the price.
Even if the players DO play, without a vaccine there will be no crowds in stadiums, so no cheering and no excitement for the players. School itself wouldn't be any fun, either.
Dr. Fauci said that players would need to live in a bubble and be tested every day to keep this disease at bay for football season, but that ain't gonna happen. So there will NOT be a sports season this year unless a vaccine is made available. Yeah, there might be some risk to pushing a vaccine out early. But it looks to me like pretty near damn certain that the alternative is the end of the world as we know it.

Disease has no respect for politics; all viruses want to do is multiply. Seems like all a lot of people use making excuses as their primary form of protection. Viruses don't care.

You forgot political manipulation and scaremongering by blue state Governors.

One, I hope there is football this fall.
Two, I love the block feature on this message board. Definitely improves some conversations on here.

Being able to watch sports this Fall and Winter, sure would make the next lockdown phase more interesting. LOL
I’m just glad that I don’t have to make that decision.
