Can we all agree this horse has been ridden too long and is tired. The horse has now died of COVID.

If he was a young horse, he and his friends should get covid as soon as possible so we'd get to herd immunity faster.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."--Benjamin Franklin (1775). Since when is football an essential liberty? I grew up with stories of sacrifice during WWII and how families had to ration everything. I can’t believe this is the same country. Instead of taking pride in our learned scientists, trusting them, and sacrificing for the greater good, we squabble and divide. Sacrifice? We can’t even get people to wear masks in public. Much is always made of our precious freedoms. But America isn’t the most free country in this world. We rank 17th, tied with Sweden, according to the Cato Institute. 17th. Not bad, but not good enough to brag about.

Sacrifice? We can’t even get people to wear masks in public. People wearing masks in public do very little protect anyone else (if they aren't coughing or sneezing themselves) and little to nothing to protect themselves (if they aren't N95 masks, used properly).
People driving alone in their vehicles while wearing masks are simply making it clear to others around them that they are hypochondriacs.
This is exactly my point.
Every infectious disease expert and every pandemic doc say to wear a mask. Simple. They even said that making one ourselves is better than not having a mask.
So why not follow that advice? Why look for the loophole that might let you off the hook? The answer is simple. It has become politicized. So when you go for your heart surgery, make sure your doctor's politics align with yours. And how about your car mechanic? And the guy who fixes the elevator in your building?
Or wouldn't you want the information/service from the most knowledgeable and best prepared person available?
I personally don't see people driving around wearing their masks. I guess you live in Eugene where people aren't so smart. ;-) But consider this: if I am running about doing errands or going from one short stop to the next, might it be easier just to keep the mask on?
Do your best not to judge them with your preconceived notions of what's right and wrong. It's hard, I know. But there could be a very reasonable explanation for what they are doing.

Nice little qualifier, but despite what the WHO (the guys who said until a week ago nobody needs a mask unless they are coughing or sneezing) said about asymptomatic spread, there's still a lot of debate- www.theverge.com/21286902/symptoms-coronavirus-spread-contagious-who-data-asymptomatic-maskI agree about the driving in the car thing. A friend went to Diamond lake recently, said he was shocked at how many people he saw out in the middle of nowhere on HWY 58 in cars by themselves wearing a mask. Heck, I see people out for a walk in empty neighborhoods wearing masks and I question their worry level on occasion, but as far as mask use in crowds I'd much rather people err on the side of caution.

What exactly is his medical degree in? Oh, that's right. He doesn't have one.
