The recent podcast interview of Scott Rueck by Ron Callan has me encouraged about how quickly the three newcomers may be able to contribute next season.
Below is how I see the depth chart for the five positions based upon what we know about the roster at this point in time:
1: Goodman, Mannen 2: Goforth, Simmons 3: Mack/Corosdale, Samuel 4: Corosdale/Mack 5: Jones, Morris, & Mitrovic
Not Available: Brown, Aquino
With 10 healthy bodies (assuming Corosdale and Mitrovic are both good to go), I would feel better if the portal could yield a ballhandling point guard and another 6'3"+ big with passing skills who can play the 4. I don't know if Mitrovic is skilled enough to play the 4 in OSU's offense.
Do any of you think the coaching staff is still in the market for another transfer? If so, what position(s) above has the greatest need for next season's Beavs?

I could see Jones playing the four as well if her mid range game confidence grows, but we would have to play zone defense a lot.

I don't know if Mitrovic is skilled enough to play the 4 in OSU's offense. I think Mitrovic can play the 4 offensively (and need to zone defensively). She has the shooting and passing skills to be very effective from the bits and pieces I have seen and heard. We may play without a true PG when Aleah needs to come out.

Aleah is going to play 40 minutes often. It is her team and she will rise to the occasion. She knows what she will need to do and will be ready.
I'm a Noel fan but she will need to make a huge leap to be the backup pg. Maybe in blow out games. One thing in her favor is that she can shoot.
Just tossing this out, Jazz as the back up pg. She could also be used as a senior.
2 & 3 Jazz, Sasha, Savanna, Noel, maybe Taya or Ellie
4 Taya, Ellie, Jalena
5 Taylor, Trish, Jalena

1---Aleah---newbie----really need a "newbie" for this team to make a run. Could be the difference between good and VERY good. 2---Sasha, Jasmine, Savannah 3---Jasmine-Ellie--Sasha--Savannah 4--Taya---Ellie-- 5--Taylor--Trish---Jelena
Ok, coach said Ellie could slide inside in the right circumstances, but didn't really say she could play 3. We'll just have to wait and see

1. Goforth 2. Mack / Samuel 3. Corosdale 4. Jones 5. Morris
Yes, I pick my lineups based entirely on their hair. Sasha is going to be a *star*.

The additions of grad transfer Mack and the two freshmen Goforth and Samuel have the potential to be the most immediately impactful trio at OSU since ________________.
Fill in the above blank.
Playing time will be readily available for those who are ready to contribute right away.

Brown, Hanson and Wiese 2013 magic Brown didn't get much run her freshman season, did she? Only 8 minutes per game according to the team's website. Wiese was All-PAC-12 as a frosh for the first of her four annual honors. Hanson averaged 7.1 points as a frosh, slightly more than the 6.5 that she averaged as a senior. We all remember how elite of a defender Hanson was as a senior, but I had forgotten her shooting woes during her final season in Corvallis. She shot 34.3%/26.3%/46.2% from the field/3PT/FT her senior season, helping the team win its third consecutive regular season conference title. My guess is that no OSU starter has ever shot worse than Hanson for an entire season than she did in '16-'17. And the team still finished 31-5.

Only know the first two but they are really good. Aleah, Taya, and sometimes Destiny. Mik, Kat, Maddie, and Janessa Ruth, Jamie, Deven, Signer, and Hill Bre and Kolby really only contributed significantly their last year, not sure Syd and Gabby are enough.

I can see a lineup of Goodman/Simmons/Corosdale/Mack/Jones, where Corosdale is playing the 3 and setting the offense, maybe even bring the ball up some of the time. It's a lineup that could go over the top against a lot of teams, and also should be pretty good defensively.

beaverstever - -your lineup could very well win the jackpot....It rides on Simmons making good strides in several phases of her game during this off season... Usually I downplay the importance of frosh, but with the new wave of talent Rueck is bringing in the past 4 years, frosh making a big splash has become almost an annual event. If Goforth is as good at the fundamental aspects of the game as Rueck claims she is, then I would think she will start ahead of Simmons... Simmons, however, has a bunch of strengths, and if she could just learn to play in traffic, she would have a breakout year..
At any rate, it's only May, and after a month of self-isolation I'm ready for the season to start in June.....🏀 GO BEAVS !!

Unless the Beavs add more transfers, Goforth will start. I don't know if a big front line of Ellie, Taya, and Taylor will work, If so, I would go with beaverstever lineup with Goforth instead of Simmons. I expect the starters will be Aleah, Sasha, Jasmine, Taya, and Taylor, with Ellie coming in early to spell, Jasmine, then Taya. I expect starting minutes for Ellie, but it may be from backing up all three forwards/post.

Is your concern about starting a bigger front line primarily related to their lateral quickness and their ability to defend effectively? I think the Beavs will need to identify some consistent scoring options, so I would hope that Mack can establish herself as a primary scoring option early to supplement what Jones can provide inside with Goodman stretching opposing defenses with her perimeter shooting. OSU coaches have consistently been able to teach their personnel to defend as a unit, so I don't have too many concerns that OSU won't be able to keep opposing defenses to a low shooting percentage from the field next season. The Beavs won't force many turnovers and won't get many steals as the players are instructed not to gamble or get out of position, but the OSU defensive formula tends to work in Corvallis year after year. I would like to see how three 6'3"+ players on the floor for the Beavs can fare running an offense that frees up Corosdale and Mack for open threes from the stretch 4 position.
