I agree, but I think your comment is too understated. With the loss of Tudor, Slocum and Pivec the Beavs absolutely must find some scoring punch for next season....Right now, the only thing that resembles an infusion of scoring power is Mack. Indeed, it looks to me like if she doesn't become a significant scorer (double figures per game) the Beavs are in a world of hurt point wise.
You gotta score to win and right now the roster is loaded with good players who can shoot, but none who can score when the system doesn't provide them with a good shot. "Shooters but not scorers" describes the current roster. To crack the top 3 in the conference Coach will have to find a scorer. He has only two options: recruit one, develop one. Personally, I don't see anyone on the current roster who will develop into a scorer in the way Pivec and Slocum were scorers.
This is one reason why I'm beginning to think that the surprise next year might be the emergence of Morris and Mitrovic and the creation of "Big ball"...But, I'm not taking that idea to ESPN just yet..... GO BEAVS !!🏀

Unless the Beavs add more transfers, Goforth will start. I don't know if a big front line of Ellie, Taya, and Taylor will work, If so, I would go with beaverstever lineup with Goforth instead of Simmons. I expect the starters will be Aleah, Sasha, Jasmine, Taya, and Taylor, with Ellie coming in early to spell, Jasmine, then Taya. I expect starting minutes for Ellie, but it may be from backing up all three forwards/post. Is your concern about starting a bigger front line primarily related to their lateral quickness and their ability to defend effectively? I think the Beavs will need to identify some consistent scoring options, so I would hope that Mack can establish herself as a primary scoring option early to supplement what Jones can provide inside with Goodman stretching opposing defenses with her perimeter shooting. OSU coaches have consistently been able to teach their personnel to defend as a unit, so I don't have too many concerns that OSU won't be able to keep opposing defenses to a low shooting percentage from the field next season. The Beavs won't force many turnovers and won't get many steals as the players are instructed not to gamble or get out of position, but the OSU defensive formula tends to work in Corvallis year after year. I would like to see how three 6'3"+ players on the floor for the Beavs can fare running an offense that frees up Corosdale and Mack for open threes from the stretch 4 position. I think you have expressed how I feel pretty well. I'm a little concerned about the ability to defend smaller, quicker teams. UCLA in particular comes to mind. They make every effort to beat teams down the floor. But, I agree with you completely that the Beavs defense will continue to hold teams to a low shooting percentage and be solid. Certainly Ellie, Taya, and Taylor would be a very nice rebounding trio, and Taya and Ellie are good passers, so if either Taya or Ellie can play the 3, that would be great. If Taya and Ellie do start together, I would have a little concern with bench scoring, which is why I believe SR will stagger his scorers and I expect 6 players to have starter type minutes. If Trish develops further, or if Savannah, or even Jelena can come in and score, of course that would change how I feel about how minutes are divided up. A front court of Taylor, Taya, and Ellie this year, and Taylor, Taya, and Kennedy in 2021/2022 should be as good as any group in the conference (and that doesn't even include how Trish and Jelena develop). Add Sasha, Jasmine, Savannah, and Greta to that 21/22 team, and that's fun to think about........yet......where is the point guard? They will find one. I'm just a little impatient. Oh, and one more thing, is there truth to the talk that Kat has appealed the ruling against her extra year? I really wouldn't count on her winning, but if she did, that would certainly change the outlook for this season.

After seeing the record-breaking height on the OSU WBB roster the past two seasons often during warmups, I too would love to see some semblance of "big ball" as 411500 suggests above. I have long pictured the use of 6'7" and 6'9" players together as part of a 2-3 zone that directs everything defensively out of the paint. Or, even having Morris and the 6'4" Jones together on the court at the same time would be a treat.
Alas, the element of lateral quickness possessed by the elite teams in the women's game combined with the injuries/ailments incurred by Aquino and Mitrovic have conspired to keep the "big ball" experiment from taking place at OSU. If the Beavs can trot out multiple 6'4"+ bigs and still get up and down the court effectively, I would welcome seeing a sledgehammer offense that pounds the ball inside and can free up perimeter shooters with quick passing back out to the arc.
I also don't know who will be that 15+ points per game scorer to lead the Beavs next season. If I had to guess, I would look for Jones to be the primary scoring option next season if the Beavs can increase her touches in and around the paint.

Would love to see another season of Kat Tudor on the floor for the Beavs. Hope it happens. Another year of working on getting her legs/knees stronger would allow her to play closer to what we saw of her during her sophomore season.

Agree with getting Kat back would be great but unfortunately unlikely to happen.
One thing worth consideration about this season. For the first time since Syd graduated we will have a single true point guard running the offense. It could very well be beneficial. Switching out the point guard must be difficult for the rest of the team, especially when they are as different as Aleah and Destiny are.
It would be nice to have another true point guard as a back up, one young enough to come back 2 or 3 years.

Aleah is at least a PG by trade, and our starting 4 will be much more experienced and comfortable handling pressure. As wonderful as a talent as DS is, she doesn't match the style Rueck prefers to play. He's very much an inside out coach, and I think a year with an improved Jones and able to contribute Mitrovic hopefully will get the offense to an efficient level. I actually think the improved size on the wing could make us better defensively, our back-court last year was talented, but with the exception of Kat not particularly long, (and Kat couldn't defend at her pre-injury level). With increased size on the wing, and no minutes in the front court from any players under 6'3, I hope we can be better defensively and even more dominant rebounding, even without the best rebounder in school history.

The ability to play inside out as wbosh15 notes in an above post will depend on how much improved Jones and the other 5s will be about moving the ball after an entry pass is made to them. As a number of announcers pointed out this past season, once the ball was passed to Jones the ball was not coming back out. She had only 15 assists last season in 32 games and needs to improve her ability to pass when double teamed in order to make opposing teams pay for double teaming her. She will be double teamed a lot during her final three years in college. Totally agree and I think that's one thing that will come. She did make some nice passes but more often then not it was get the ball, score. I think with a year under her belt she will be more comfortable and the game will start to slow down. Mitrovic, in the games I have seen of her, is a wonderful inside out passer, I just hope that translates to the US College game after not for more than a year.

Jones is going to be a huge benefactor of Aleah at the point full time. As last season went on Aleah got better at getting the ball to Jones up high. Taya has also showed good passing to the inside.
I really like the physicality that Jones plays with. She will get better at knowing where the line is between foul and good play. She has tremendous core strength.

Many thanks to wbosh15 for finding and sharing the link above. I enjoy reading Ben Dull's insight. Dull isn't the first analyst to write a preview article with an expectation that Kennedy Brown will be playing next season. I believe that Brown did not have surgery until March. I would be very surprised if the Beavs would attempt to get a partial season out of her in '20-'21. It would not be prudent to have her play next season unless she has an amazing recovery with her lateral quickness and jumping ability returning completely within 10 months. If the virus cancels the season, the decision for Brown to use her redshirt year will be a moot point anyway. Jones will be very, very good during her final three years in college and has the potential to be a 2,000 points/1,000 rebounds player during her collegiate career. She is reportedly a very hard worker who puts in the extra time that is needed to be elite. She did so as a frosh and appears to be doing so during her time in Texas. Another very easy athlete for Beaver Nation to root for....

He’s also works on my favorite NBA podcast as well so I think he has a good eye for the game. I’m sure most writers who mention KB for next season aren’t aware of the date or her surgery and are just going 9 months from the date of injury.
