20-21 - Aleah and.... 21-22 - WHO???
I think the lack of depth at PG is a bit more serious than getting Destiny back or a grad transfer. Am I missing something?
Go BEAVS!
BTW- I fully expect a full season this coming fall. Football (and all fall sports) too while I'm offering opinions.

Interesting that this topic seems to have stumped the frequent posters.
Now that Destiny isn't coming back, who might be in position to play point guard next to Aleah... and after her?
Should the staff seek an immediately eligible player? Should they seek to influence a previously committed player to reconsider her decision for this coming year?

I believe the staff is recruiting Talia von Oelhoffen as a PG. UCLA and Stanford could be tough to beat out for her services.
Being able to come right in to OSU and likely start should be pretty attractive to Talia.

Jersey W. keeps growing. Don't know if they still see her as a PG. And what little talk I can find from her is about Arkansas.

The Beavs went from having Aleah, Katie Mac, Destiny, and Mik, all who could handle the ball well enough to play the point for some minutes, to only Aleah in the coming season.
Aleah's a very good point, but she's not the quickest, and can struggle when being harassed by a quick guard. I love Noelle's attitude, but she's not a Pac-12 point. I think the Beavs are fine at guard with Aleah, Sasha, Jazmine, and Savannah, but they really need to add another ball handler to the group for next season. Maybe Sasha can play that role, but I'm not convinced yet. I look at Sasha as playing the 2-3, and being VERY good at it as a Freshman. My opinion.....really need a grad transfer (or immediate eligible) point(ish) type player for next season.
As for the 2021 season, I am fine with a freshman being the point on what otherwise should be a team with good expericence (Taylor, Taya, Kennedy, Trish, Jelena, Jasmine, Sasha, Savannah). I'm not sure Talia is that skilled as a point yet, but she is an amazing player, so perhaps. I'm confindent there will be someone joining the program to fill that role. The immediate need is next season.

Aleah got into a pissing match against Moore one time last season and lost. But beyond that she did fine last year. But yes, they badly need a backup for next season.

I really think that Aleah is a natural shooting guard and would be playing outside of her best skill set at the point for 30+ minutes per game. PAC-12 defenses will press the heck out of her and harass her unceasingly if she is the primary ball handler for the team next season. When she ran the point last season, the offense would often get stalled for 10-15 seconds as she tried to create separation by using one or two screens at the high post. OSU really needs a point guard who can penetrate the lane effectively and kick the ball to her teammates. Aleah is a cerebral player who can handle ball, but she doesn't typically pose a threat to drive if her defender overplays her and/or gets up in her grill. Aleah has demonstrated that she is one of the best perimeter shooters in OSU history. Would like to see another quality ballhandler who can create shots for Aleah so that the defense can be stretched to the three-point line.

Aleah may have a great season this coming year, but there needs to be another player or two who can help handle the ball, bring the ball up court, and dirve the lane.

Now hold it. You guys can't have it both ways. You say that Destiny was mad because she was pulled in the high pressure times late in the game. But you also insist that Aleah can't handle high pressure situations. Who was it bringing up the ball in those high pressure situations that Scott didn't trust Destiny in? Was there a 3rd PG I didn't notice?
I absolutely agree that Aleah needs to get better at driving. But so far Aleah has shown great ability to expand her game each season and I expect that she will do so again.
And I hate to tell you this, but I really don't see a miracle PG on the horizon who's going replace Aleah next season.
My personal feeling is that bouncing between Aleah and Destiny at the PG mucked up both of them and Destiny leaving will provide a stability to the team. I really wish Scott had settled on one of them and made the other the SG. But he couldn't and so one had to go. But I'm very sad to see Destiny go. A lot of fun to watch that girl play.

I believe when people say “high pressure” there are two different thoughts behind it. Aleah is not at her best when she is being hounded. Minyon Moore, Charisma Osborne, Mazyck(?) a few years ago, and others all played really high pressure defense, and that affected Aleah. You don’t necessarily want her being the lone ball handler in those situations. Rueck did not trust Destiny (at times) in games when the stakes and were high late in the game. May have been her defense, her decision making, her ability to run an offense, but for some reason, when the pressure was on at the end of the games, there we multiple times when Destiny was not out there. For consistently being our first or second best player, fans and Destiny’s family alike found this odd.

I loved Destiny. Wish she still was on the team, but go back and watch a selection of about 20 or so times when the Beavs had the ball, running out the clock to end the quarter, and judge for yourself how successful those 10 seconds were.
As for the Aleah "high pressure" talk. I think Aleah is great too, I jsut think you can't have her alone as the main ball handler. Honsetly, we may be making too much of this. I'm fairly confident Sasha will be able to help in those situations as well. The main question would be, if Aleah is the point guard, is there a backup? Right now, it doesn't look like it.
