So, uhm, sports?
This thread seems to have already killed it.

So, uhm, sports? This thread seems to have already killed it. There will be... in some fashion, at some point in time. Let's go with that and see the arguments that arise.

Someone let me know when the dogs stop barking. Blame it on WHO as atownbeaver pointed out, because they are the ones who let the dogs out.

IMHO, this thread needs to come to an end because of the political talk. I think it's obvious both Democrats and Repubicans missed the boat on how bad this could become and that can be proved by numerous statements on both sides, with some trying to sound the alarm, again on both sides.
I would say let's get back to talking about when sports will return but that conversation seems pointless now. I don't think it will be that long before we see some beginning to sports again, but it may look very different when it comes to the attendance of fans, but I'm not sure there will be a soon return for college sports. There are a lot of logistics to work out, and a lot of health issues to work past.

So Glove is it open season for political statements? Seems some get a free pass or is a reminder due?

I'm going to add to this thread with some hesitation, hoping the political talk is over.
What if, as 411500 mentioned earlier, fall basketball (men and women) don't have non-conference play this fall, and only have the Pac-12 season beginning in January? Under those circumstances, the players will have lost the NCAA tourney last season, and all non-conference games in the upcoming season. Do the players get awarded an extra year of eligibility?
If not, some players (let's use Taylor Jones as an example), who have a chance at rewriting their schools record books, never get that opportunity. This whole this is a mess. I guess we'll deal with it when/if we ever begin playing again and there may never be a way to make things 'fair' for current players.

No. Does anyone really think it is a good idea to jam thousands of people together with this virus going around and there is no effective vaccine. Development of vaccines take time.

If a part of the basketball season that is played amounts to 18 games (the PAC-12 season) or more, consider that a "full" season for NCAA eligibility purposes. You are correct that Taylor Jones should have a shot at the OSU school records for rebounds and perhaps blocked shots, assuming that she remains healthy and OSU plays 32+ games per season over her final three seasons. With all of the financial concerns that NCAA sports programs are facing now with respect to lost revenue and paying for scholarships for athletes who may not be able to compete, the NCAA and its member universities will likely not be in the giving mode with respect to eligibility for partially-played seasons. Universities, including what is happening at Wisconsin, more and more will be making the unpopular but financially responsible decision to not extend scholarships to their senior athletes to cover their cancelled or partial seasons.

[b We must test for antibodies like our lives depend on it. I think games can be played without fans. I also think you may get some sort of an identification that shows you have the antibodies and you would be allowed to congregate (attend a sporting event). Obviously there's a huge logistical challenge to conducting the testing and then creating some sort of ID that's difficult to fake. This will end when we have a vaccine. Per the talking heads, that is somewhere between March and September 2021.
