If Kate Brown is looking to still be among the living (literally), after this is over ... I'd highly suggest against such a brain-dead move.
That POS Gavin Newsom just announced the home-isolation idiocy. I hope they riot/loot like MFers down there.
And you've studied epidemiology how long? Whether he has or not, if you think this is anything but a set up/ overreaction, maybe you will listen to some reason from someone other than me:
thecollegefix.com Article title: Stanford epidemiologist warns that Coronavirus crackdown is based on bad data. Common sense, and the numbers thus far, bear out what he is saying.

One scientist's opinion vs another. I kinda like the people that can go to the podium right after the President and contradict his statements. That takes conviction, and cojones. There is a world-wide network of epidemiologists and other medical specialists that are trying to pull all the information together. You can normally take a position that it is neither the best or worst case scenario, and then you can look at what is going on it Italy.
1 pm Pacific Time, March 20th
There have been 627 coronavirus-related deaths in 24 hours in Itally.
So far, 4,032 people in Italy have died from the disease.

Cajones, yes. Job stability, no. Oh, and BTW, I still think you are more than a little nutso with your hobby. 😁 With cajones, too.

It’s not just the mortality rate that’s concerning. It’s the rapid rate of transmission and overwhelming the medical system, which is already happening.

I'm not saying this thing isn't serious, it is. But something isn't adding up with all these stories. According to KPDX12, there are currently 114 cases in the State of Oregon. Washington Co has the most with 31, several rural counties with 0. Many of the breaking news stories I hear say that the newly identified patients were sent home to self quarantine. My question is, how can our medical system be overwhelmed with 114 cases in the entire State? Many of whom go home. Something doesn't make sense here.

First is that a lot of people are infected/have had the illness, but there either weren't tests, or they didn't get sick, or sick enough at least, to seek doctor's help. Second, the long incubation period. It's what we see 2-3 weeks from now that will tell us how close we are to the low or high end of the spectrum. The lack of a vaccine, and no immunity from past events since this is a new virus, is also very problematic. Usually in these types of situations we have a few people crying the sky is falling and the majority trying to counter that. This seems to be flip-flopped. For example, Good Samaritan medical center in Corvallis put out a request last night to other medical facilities and people in the area asking for all types of masks, medical clothing and even isopropyl alcohol. I want to dearly believe that they are acting out of an abundance of caution.

How about all those poor people out of work and the small shops that will never come back.
