There are only three Pac-12 teams that even have wrestling...all eight competed in the 1970's. ASU and Stanford are solid...this program should be a top 10-15 most years with the right coach and support.

Good to see that the AD agrees that this program isn’t meeting expectations. Should still be an attractive job and hoping we see some strong candidates.
Also hope that they at least take a preliminary look at Josh Rhoden from CCC.

Just back from running. I can still do an 8:30 mile! Yes I agree, it was/is time for a change. I have fond memories of the coaching staff. As the fan club prez or co-prez for 6 years, then board member for years after that, its hard to not have feelings. My biggest disappointment was not getting a finalist or champion to the Saturday evening finals in Z's era. This is a year of change...I'm facing that reality. No NCAA's for the first time in almost 10 years, my good friend and travel buddy (Lucky) had a serious medical issue, and is on the rebound. I'd always room with Lucky at NCAA's and PAC-s when I went to those. Now a coaching change.
My first notion of something that was going on was the last after social vs Little Rock. Both AD Barnes and Dan Bartholomae were at the social. I rode the elevator down to the ground floor of Reser with them and some of the wrestlers. Not a word (of any meaning) was said by the Dept brass. Then walking across Parker Plaza I saw them talking once again when it was only those two. Also Z, wouldn't take questions after his time on the mic at the socials. I don't think he liked being in front and selling the program.
I'll opine with a list of guys that I'd like see get a shot or interview. But bottom line, this is a young mans sport. Go for the 'name' of a recent NCAA stud that kids know the name of. That is worth recruiting $ right there. Make sure he likes to: recruit, travel, can win the living room interview with the parents. He also has to surround himself with solid assistants and club coaches that can help him build the program. When Z was first hired, I remember coach Steiner emailing me saying, 'we can build a powerhouse here.' We had 2 top-10 teams, but other than that, it never materialized.
Lets support the guys going to NCAA's and hope we get 2 more. Make sure there are no defections of our best guys! Go Beavs!

Through his representatives, Mike Bellotti has officially turned down the opportunity to be the head coach of wrestling at OSU....but is rumored to be interested in the men's basketball job. Lol
