They're just tired. Too much energy expended coming back from 15+ down. Everything late came up short.
Hell of an effort to put a scare into Trees though.

Stanford playing like they actually intend to be a final four team like they're capable of. They have the horses to it difficult on our shooters.
Long wait until the next game, sure hope we did enough for it to be at Gill.

Destiny runs into her defender, who goes down, ball off defenders foot rolling into the backcout. No call, turns into layup for Trees. I'm no ref but that's either a block, a charge, or a kick ball for F sake. Possibly could have been called an offensive foul. I have an issue with Slocum just standing there and looking at the bench waiting for a call. Hustle back and try to prevent the layin. You can't assume anything. Not that it would have made a difference in the game either way. |

Got out-rebounded 31 - 23. When OSU gets out-rebounded they usually lose.

Bob Schofield might be the s%#ttiest ref in the Pac-12. Bob was an all star tonight. The tall blonde lady really sucks. Is she the same one that T’d up Rueck in the ASU game? Rueck had no idea he had been T’d. The third official was mia, hardly made a call. |

Not that it would have made a difference in the game either way. Agreed. You can never assume you will get that call. Refs must have determined the kick was inadvertent. You have to get back on defense or you are doing a disservice to your teammates. She needed to hustle back to prevent the fastbreak layin. Little things do matter in the end. |

I sure hope that coaches recognized that we played Stanford even after down by 12 at beginning of 1st quarter. And, that vs a taller team like Stanford, we need to be in our zone defense, and, Aleah must be on the floor instead of MW. The first 5 minutes, we got schooled on the high screen, like the last 2 games with Stanford? Start out in the zone, with Taylor and our 4 best guards (players). Huge mistake by the coaches.
And MW is not the answer against a much taller team like Stanford, South Carolina, Ducks.
I absolutely loved how our girls played in the 2nd half. They are tough as nails. This one was on the coaches.

Her name is Tiffany Bird and she appears to have a soft spot for Coach Rueck: kind of like Kyle Bacon does for Kim Mulkey. No matter what our feelings are for our very human, Pac-12 refs, the real question is: what is our team going to do about it? I think we have a pretty good idea what the strategies are that can defeat our team, but I don't see us applying solutions...if we have any at this point. Rest, plan, fight on! We are not done! |
