Is it bashing to suggest that Tres has failed to develop his off hand skills? Or he tends to force it sometimes? Or are those observations that just point out some frustrating weaknesses? I'm curious how he was "treated" so badly? Is staying with your opinion that 10-15+ others are better basketball players, that in their prime you rank them ahead despite stats? That he's not an NBA draft choice? He's not a Pac12 POY talent? That postulating coaching multiple sons might effect team chemistry/play? All opinions... all valid beliefs. Treated? Has he been booed? Has there been ANY significant talk of Tres being a bad person? Terrible student? Mistreating teammates? Ok, there was the hilarious halftime contest where a young lady named Tres as a breed of dog, but... she had some personal reasons to deal with! So, similar chatter about other players' shortcomings... ET, ST, KK, Big G, ZR, on and in since the inception if message boards is terrible treatment too? Seems that others are transferring "Tinkle Issues" to Tres. Such terrible treatment... really? And, now anonymity is an issue? Lol... to paraphrase others who makes it a regular practice to disparage opponent student athletes... Tres will be just fine, and his Mom thanks you all for your concern.

Can't we just save it for one of the many other threads about this topic? Is it that hard for people to recognize a great achievement?

We could have until atownbeaver took the thread off track with his assertions that Tres is being trashed here all the time.

The numbers, the numbers
Tres is a baller, pure and simple. Watching him last night, cutting to the hoop, dishing out the assists (sometimes I think he should be bringing the ball up court to start the offense), rebounding, shooting from the outside, playing through injuries.
But the number that stands out for me is 5-27. Tres was out, and we went 5-27.
Ya'll can throw bricks at each other, but don't aim them at the guy actually out on the court. I have seen a lot of OSU basketball in the last 40 years, and a lot of great players. Tres is a great player. He has played with Drew and GP II and the Thompson Twins, but none of them had all the weapons he has, skills he has shown.
Let's honor the dude with the perhaps the best combination of numbers any OSU player's put up in the history of our basketball team.
If Mik's Mother or Father were the coach of the women's basketball team, and people were holding that over her head, sheesh. We are getting to see 4 years of greatness on both sides - enjoy (and as i said, honor)!!!

Is it that much to ask that people take a minute after an emotional close loss before they spew a bunch of anger and frustration directed at our players and coaches? You can dress up your critical observations all you want, but you are being completely disingenuous if you are trying to claim that all the chatter after losses is just "observations of players shortcomings or things they need to work on". "ZR is a garbage player" "ZR is not a Pac12 athlete" "Tinkle just plays coaches sons because he doesn't care about the rest of the team" etc, etc, is NOT an educated criticism. It's weak sauce projected anger that says more about the person writing it than it does the athlete. Did YOU write that stuff Ba11? I have no idea, but you certainly don't hold back in your criticisms. And YOU KNOW the posters I'm talking about so spare us the "who me?" act. Not everything is ABOUT YOU. I know that's hard to believe. Again, just because you think you have a valid criticism doesn't mean you HAVE to say it on a public forum. People talk about being an adult on here. THAT is what being an adult is all about. Measuring whether what you have to say is actually going to make anything better, or are you just trying to make yourself feel better? I would suggest that for a lot of the posters that only seem to post when things go bad it really only has anything to do with the latter. And a lot of the time those posts go well beyond anything that you are talking about.

I would suggest that for a lot of the posters that only seem to post when things go bad it really only has anything to do with the latter. And a lot of the time those posts go well beyond anything that you are talking about. You mean like your mini rant: "The fact that Gianni played well in the first half last night, and gave us the quickness that NO ONE else is giving this team, AND THEN didn't hardly sniff the floor in the 2nd half has knocked me squarely OFF of the Tinkle bandwagon. Talk about pissing down your own leg." Really wanted him to succeed. It's not happening, and things will only be worse next year. Big Wayne's day are numbered IMO, unless he pulls a complete 180." Pot Kettle? And, I can paste several more from your posts about players/opponents, referees, etc. It's a message board... IT is VERY VERY harmless, and the "outrage" is hilarious considering all the other things that such bleeding hearts could be focused on. And... funny you address none of the questions posed. Guessing you have not read enough throughout the to even know the facts yet make judgmental generalizations based on personal bias?? So do your criticisms of others belong in the same category? Why post them? Is it all about you and you definitions of what is right and wrong on a message board? Hypocrite much? Moral authority? The definitive answers to what "adult" is? Maybe your just in the wrong place Tenderheart? Just a hint, most "adults" realize fallacies and don't chide others in the same fashion in which they accuse.

Can't we just save it for one of the many other threads about this topic? Is it that hard for people to recognize a great achievement?
Ha... if you look back who began the entire string of negativity? "You know, if it were anyone but our coach's son that was - OSU's leading scorer, second leading rebounder, 5th leading in steals, and within 4-5 blocks and assists of being top 10 all-time in both categories, and 3 time all league academic team - there probably wouldn't be a question mark after that yay." It's kinda like a troll hoping to incite others to comment and build on a topic that didn't exist until Drunk's post! So, sometime all you have to do is look in your own "backyard". Great program supporter! But, you are indeed right.... A great accomplishment.

We could have until atownbeaver took the thread off track with his assertions that Tres is being trashed here all the time. Actually sooner... with Drunk the Supporter's trolling quote... "You know, if it were anyone but our coach's son that was - OSU's leading scorer, second leading rebounder, 5th leading in steals, and within 4-5 blocks and assists of being top 10 all-time in both categories, and 3 time all league academic team - there probably wouldn't be a question mark after that yay." Reading back thru all hi program "support" retorts and this... very, very much like a board troll would do. And, I effing fall for it!! Ha... no more... the evidence is clearly in front of anyone who cares to be objective about the last 6 seasons. Now... let's wish the players a great end to their season...

Huge props to Tres! That’s a great accomplishment. For me there’s never been any doubt that he’s given everything he has to Beaver BBall, and that alone deserves respect and a very big thank you.
With that said, would I rank Tres in the pantheon of all time Beaver greats? I’m not so sure. That’s not so much a knock on Tres as it is respect for the guys who preceded him. Great players can carry a team to the post season. Would I put him up there with GP, AC Green, Lester C, Sitton, Steve Johnson, or Mel Counts? For me, it’s a definite no. The individual records are great, but in the end without team success it gets harder to judge. Maybe you’re the very best player on some very mediocre teams. I think for some it’s hard to put Tinkles records in context given our team history of mediocrity. Unfortunate for Tres, but fair enough given the context.

All the players you named were surrounded by very good to great players - teams couldn't focus on you because they had to worry about everyone else. When you are the only really good player, the teams can try to shut you down and dare the other guys on the squad to make them pay for it. I think your argument is counter intuitive.
