You know, if it were anyone but our coach's son that was - OSU's leading scorer, second leading rebounder, 5th leading in steals, and within 4-5 blocks and assists of being top 10 all-time in both categories, and 3 time all league academic team - there probably wouldn't be a question mark after that yay.

Got it with a 3-pointer in the 1st half. Congrats Tres!!! With that 3-pointer, Tres Tinkle just passed Gary Payton to become the all-time leading scorer in Oregon State history! #GoBeavs t.co/LwXZptAjLo

You are probably right. Like him or not, still an impressive thing for him. I wonder if the question mark also had to do with Tres not being able to lead the team to a the tourney. Certainly helped them get to tourney in his freshman year, but that was GP2's team. Curious (though not curious enough to do the research) how successful the leading scorers from the other Pac 12 teams as far as getting team to tourney.

Oops, got ahead of myself, Tres is 7 rebounds away from tieing AC for second. He is also OSU’s all-time leader in both foul shots attempted and made.

You know, I am extremely disappointed with this season, and now we need to move on from Coach Tinkle. Honestly his team is too talented to be here. There is nowhere else to point to but coaching at this point. Not injuries, it ain't bad luck. It is failure to elevate the team. But what pisses me off more is the utter disrespect for Tres, that has done nothing but ball out his entire career. It is utterly pathetic this is how we treat the top scorer in OSU history, and an undeniable fantastic basketball player. You have nailed it, give Tres any other name, and change nothing about him and everybody has his back. This guy has been a rock of a player for four years on the court, not counting his ultimate medical RS year. Being the coaches kid ain't his fault, but every so called adult here makes it his problem. It is just sad. Can we just appreciate he is a heck of a basketball player? That's be nice. This is an OSU student athlete that our own f%#*ing fans can't seem to wait to s%#t all over. utterly nauseating.

We basically have 3 players that would be starting or getting any significant time with another team in the conference (maybe 1 or 2 others with Cal or WSU). We have a talent issue with regards to depth. I do hope that Tres is more appreciated in the future as some time goes by.

Truth..the way our"fans" can't wait to diss anything Tinkle is disgusting and pathetic. If that was my kid I would have told him 3 years ago to leave the team and go someplace where the "fans" might appreciate a kid that brings his lunch everyday!! Maybe the fans ought to have his work ethic and represent the school like he does!! Congratulations Tres, you earned every point, screw the whining fans...

Tres is currently tied for 9th at OSU all time in games played - Will finish no lower than tied for 6th. Tres will finish 2nd in total minutes played, and will finish 6th or 7th in minutes per game His 194 steals have him fifth all time, he's 5 behind Brent Barry for 4th. His 68 blocked shots have him 7 behind Phil Ricci, who is 10th all-time With 6 more assists, he will finish 8th all time in assists, just ahead of Lamar Hurd. He is 8 rebounds from catching AC Green for 2nd all time As mentioned above, he's already the career leader in points, free throws made and free throws attempted. His .788 career FT% places him him tied for 8th with David Lucas. He has made more free throws than anyone in the top nine in career percentage have attempted. He's tied for 3rd in career 3 pointers made, will be 2nd if he makes six more.
In just about every single category, offensive and defensive, he's in the top 10 all time.
Time to add his image to the mural in the rafters of Gill.

Is it bashing to suggest that Tres has failed to develop his off hand skills? Or he tends to force it sometimes?
Or are those observations that just point out some frustrating weaknesses?

Is it bashing to suggest that Tres has failed to develop his off hand skills? Or he tends to force it sometimes? Or are those observations that just point out some frustrating weaknesses? Look I'll say it's great hes up there! He played well while here, and contributed, obviously. but, someone could/should run numbers on averages. The guy has played lots of games and minutes. Lets be real, he's been left in games where OSU was winning or losing by 20. Whats the purpose of that? Stats? Especially early in the season when newcomers should be getting minutes. and maybe lets shy away from SOS, especially preseason, because clearly we played some weak teams. Also, would he be getting that many minutes on other teams? dad, talent level, role player, team strategy? Most of the great players these days leave after 1? 2 years? Tres has been here.... 5-6? Again, I think it's great we all got to see the point leader play. I'm just saying if you want reasons why people aren't quick to the band wagon... there are admitted/glaring reasons why some aren't. Again, I go on record of saying congrats this is a great achievement. But there are some glaring weaknesses on that road to the top... and quite frankly, this is a subset of fans..... and they're all entitled to their opinion. If they don't like it, they're allowed to say so, if they do like it, then they can express that opinion as well. Don't paint all fans one way or the other please. P.S. The Glove makes great points

The top players on every team in the history of basketball have "tended for force things" at one time or another. It's a universal fault of excellent players.
As far at Tres building his stats by being left in games that we won or lost by 20 points, that's complete BS. We just don't play in many games decided by more than 20 points, period.
OSU played in only two 20-point games in his freshman and redshirt sophomore seasons, and just three his redshirt junior season. This year we've played in six. He's averaging 33 minutes in those games, not an inordinate amount. In our biggest blowouts, San Jose State and UAPB, he played 27 and 32. Not an inordinate number by any means.
Tres has been a great player for us and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him play, warts and all. We will greatly miss him next year.

The liberties people take on here hiding behind anonymity pisses me off too. There is NO excuse to dog our own players when they have done nothing but give their best effort. None. The irony... probably to a man no one on here that is so quick to criticize everyone under the sun when things don't go like they want to could probably even remotely hang with the kind of dedication and effort it would take to achieve something like what Tres has done. I'm sure the Tinkles are savvy enough to realize that this place DOES NOT represent the true expression of the entirety of Beaver Nation. Things didn't go the way everyone wanted, but Tres has been a great player from start to finish. Hats off to a great player and representative of OSU!
