Some kind of knee surgery. After signing in April, before mid May?? I thought she looked very mobile, ready during ASU warmups. Maybe decided to RS unless emergency situation?? OSU could definitely use her if she's 100% and wants to give up a year for 5-8+ games.

I hope that she would know the team's offensive plays, but there would likely have to be some learning pains on the court if she made her debut this season. In all likelihood, she has been playing the 5 position in practices and would be spelling Taylor and Patricia at that position.

Was she recruited w an injury that was worse than we thought? Or is it still sort of a mystery when and how she got hurt in the first place?

No. The injury (May 2019) occurred after she had already signed (04-17-19). And, without looking do you, anyone know how? During a game? And, to his second, the exact injury? Weird cuz I guess I always assumed it was fairly minor. Maybe MCL? Meniscus? I knew it might keep her from getting an early start in conditioning/ playing. Just never seemed any real concern it was the whole season type thing. Although being overseas the info was minimal to us fans and with HIPPA.

This is what Rueck said in August:
"6-foot-9 freshman Jelena Mitrovic had her knee scoped a few weeks ago and everything is structurally sound and she is working to strengthen the muscles around her joint before she is able to get out on the floor."
I've also heard from others that she has still been waiting to strengthen it. Also, I would guess there is a possibility that she is cleared, but Rueck has simply elected to redshirt her at this point.

There are 4 regular season games left. Why would Mitrovic waste a whole season of eligibility now just to play in a few games?

She is the type of player who would match up really well with a team like SC. Not only is she tall but she is also big. Gymek would have also matched up well. The reason that Washington didn't is that she usually used her size to out physical the opposition. Well the SC had multiple players bigger than her.

I read that then and wondered if it was a 2nd procedure after she was going thru her physical here? As the previous timeline had injury way back in May. So, just a brace then? No surgery? Didn't clear up so then scoped here? Then I questioned missing so much time with just a scope and no damage. I've been scoped (3) other times besides a major MCL. None took major lengths of time (5+ months) to get back to playing (not D1 ball) and strength training begins pretty soon after. Anyway... Jelena could have had physical setbacks during strengthening. Whatever her situation she seems probable to contribute at some point.

From what I was told....she could play now but..... "there is no use of using up a year of eligibility at this juncture of the season."

beav74: I hope your source is correct..... From the beginning I have been apprehensive about Jelena staying in Corvallis for 5 years.... Her probable pro future is in Europe and she won't need 5 years at OSU to earn that job..... I truly hope 5 years with the Beavs is her plan.....But I can't think of any practical reason why it would be, and lots of reasons why it wouldn't.... GO BEAVS !!

True, assuming that she can move quickly enough laterally to deal with Jackson, Overbeck, and Pili inside. I would like to see Mitrovic on the court to see what she can do at this early stage of her development, especially noting that she may not stay in Corvallis for 5 seasons.

There is always the possibility that she considers herself a “student/athlete” and desires a degree from her American university.

sweetpea....Yes, she certainly may desire a degree from an American university...But, as you know, that could be earned in 3.5 or 4 years if she wanted to go that route.... GO BEAVS !!
