any predictions for the USC game? key match ups? I think it's been mentioned in this thread, but try to contain Pili, Rogers and Jeune. There have been a few exceptions but generally those are the players that do most of the damage for USC.

any predictions for the USC game? key match ups? Beavs by 9. If Beavs don't play zone to encourage USC to shoot threes, keep on eye on the Washington-Pili matchup at the 4. Beavs may try to get Jones involved more on offense and exploit her length. USC has a 6'5" frosh in Angel Jackson who may see some time guarding Jones.

Angel not only has length but size as well. She was the gal that they used Kennedy to shut down after she scored 6 straight points in about 2 min before half time at the McD AA game. Jones would be much quicker, however.

If it is just Taylor's length and big body then why did she score 21 points against Hebert? There are taller/larger posts Hebert has gone against who had no such luck. And no, I'm not pretending I understand her success, but it seems to me that a quick first step might be part of it. And on who plays the 4. SR keeps saying he likes to figure out these puzzles. Wish him all the luck with figuring this one out. Oregon tends to let one player from the other team free to score as much as they want in the game. Usually that one person seems to have a highlight night night on them on every game while the rest of the team is kept in check. In the CW if they were going to let anyone get hot, it was going to be Taylor. Not to say she's not a good player, but I don't think they put 100% effort on her.

I don't think Oregon allows one player to go off on it offensively every game. The performance by Jones in Eugene was due to OSU exploiting a weakness in Oregon's defense until Oregon adjusted in the second half. Hebard would never allow herself to be outplayed without putting up a battle.
Scouting reports identify tendencies for defenses to attempt to slow down. OSU actively went inside to Jones in that game and it paid off. In the second Civil War game, OSU isolated Pivec more frequently on Ionescu in the first half before Oregon adjusted in the second half with more zone.

USC game tonight: The Beaver defence may be the key to tonight's game....Even with Kennedy sidelined the Beavs have the stronger defence... It looks like another close one. So, Beavs by 3..... Rueck will need to get at least 6 3s from Tudor, Simmons and Goodman for the Beavs to keep pace..... GO BEAVS !!

If she's not able to connect from outside, it may be a tough night.

Unfortunately I believe the Beavers will likely lose both games on the LA trip. While their defense has been solid, their offense in during the PAC12 season for the most part has not been that good.
Now with the loss of perhaps their best overall defender (Ms. Brown), the defense is probably not going to be as solid. I see no particular reason that the offense is going to improve, thus my prediction.
Over the long term, Coach Rueck has some difficult personnel decisions to make. Can he continue to recruit tall project players who often seem to not pan out talent wise or injury wise? Clearly Ms Jones and Ms Brown are "keepers" but how about several others who have not worked out as well (Patricia,Andrea, etc.)?

Plus the home court advantage at the Galen Center is formidable. All of those empty seats quietly staring at you can be paralyzing.

Why do you think that the Beavs will lose to SC? SC is near the bottom of the conference and does nothing that concerns me, even without Brown. I don't get the concern about SC.
Go Beavs!

I remember when people weren't worried about ASU (both meetings this year). USC is a physical team, OSU's offense has been struggling most of the season. I'm worried more often than not about the Beavs this year. They're barely over .500 in conference.

Have you actually watched any of their games?
