We lose an OT game to the #12 team in the country and the sky is falling. It's not that we lost. It's that we looked so awful doing it. uo beat those guys by 33 at home. Or maybe uo is just that good

But we clearly did not match up athletically with Arizona, run our offense anywhere near as well, and we don't have anyone like McDonald or what we will see at UCLA. PS: I also realize that he had only one practice to adapt to the loss of a season-long starter. But I also think we need to expand our recruiting niche a little bit.

3 home losses. When is the last time that happened? Season isn't over, still have to play at Stanford and at LA schools, more losses are certainly coming. Have not been winning the games against other top teams, that is concerning. They’ve beat 4 top 25 teams this year. Are those not top teams? 2-5 in recent games against Oregon, the Arizona schools and Stanford. Is that good?

IMO why this season is less than hoped for:
1. the upper teams in the Pac-12 (and nationally) have more overall athleticism and speed than OSU. I am not saying OSU players are not athletic, it's just that their average level is not quite as high. Some of their opponents are elite.
2. Without Taya (and now no Kennedy, no Andrea, no Jelena), OSU's front court depth, experience and ability took a huge hit.
3. While highly ranked recruits, Taylor and Kennedy are still inexperienced freshmen.
4. This year OSU was again going to have to rely on good outside 3 point shooting....but it's been a struggle far too often.

The question is are we losing the recruiting battles or are we the victim of a very key injury (now two injuries) at a very key position?
Also it seems we have been very unlucky with our results with some of our key post player recruits(Andrea and the other overseas post player).
Anyway, if it is a recruiting issue, I certainly hope the OSU administration will allow Coach Rueck to hire the necessary personnel to address the issue.
Go Beavs!

The head coach and assistants handle recruiting. He has the assistants he wants, otherwise he'd change them. No one in the administration is stopping him from anything.

I had no idea the Beav's were such a bunch of untalented, nonathletic losers until I got online to read this stuff. Gosh, how did they ever win a game with these players.
On this stuff about how the only reason the Beav's weren't absolutely crushed was because Arizona was missing wide open shots. Huh, I must have been watching the wrong game. Need to pay more attention to which Gill I'm in. Or maybe after the first half both teams were playing fierce defense?
In the game I was watching Kat and Aleah got some wide open shots. They hit a couple but also missed more.
On fouls, I thought Cate was given some ticky tacky fouls and I believe Ari gets away with outrageous stuff.
Also Ari and Sabrina should open an acting school because the two of them are masters of the art.
What I saw was a hard fought game that ended up in a tie. And then OT arrived and Adia had her team ready and Scott did not.
In overtime the only recognizable play I saw from the Beav's was to throw the ball in to Jones, and then SR got mad because he don't get the call that the refs haven't been making all game.
Wish SR had taken advantage of Trish's height.

Our girls looked tired in the 2nd half. I think the ASU game, being so late, and not having Kennedy made this game a real struggle. They just didn't have their shooting legs in the 2nd half--you could see it. Seems like we are in a similar position as last season, meaning we are now playing for a top 16 seed. We have to win @ UCLA or @ Stanford, and/or, make it to the PAC-12 championship game to host. We have had some bad injury mojo, with Kat, Taya, and now Kennedy.

SR has always grabbed some developmental type recruits. And, in the past most have paid off. Right now those type of players are not... at least in the way some past players have. OSU is "losing" on the recruiting front in some ways. Furd, ucks, UCLA, Zona have been good and some improved greatly. No one in here knows the true story. But it's funny, every time a big time recruit picks elsewhere she doesn't fit the system! It's almost an automatic post on here. I'll guarantee those SR recruited and didn't get he wanted and thought fit just fine! I started earlier today I think next year OSU is a better all around team. I think a strong, mobile 4 type, grad transfer (or immediately eligible) would really help. But, the 2021 class best be solid and turn out 100% in their contribution level... or OSU will be a middle of the Pac12 team. I think....

Yeah that’s it. The refs. That’s why they lost.

We have very skilled athletes. Our issues have to do with quickness. Other than DS, we do not have high level quickness. Doesn’t mean our players aren’t good athletes.

The *real* reason for the loss is the use of asterisks in the OFFICIAL Game Thread title. Bad on ya Werebeaver

Years like just happen and it makes one appreciate the great ones. Don't mail it in yet. In Scott we trust!

The head coach and assistants handle recruiting. He has the assistants he wants, otherwise he'd change them. No one in the administration is stopping him from anything. My point is that perhaps the A.D. is not providing sufficient funds to hire the best possible assistants the Coach would like to have and perhaps not enough travel expenses, etc. If you look at the past history of some major OSU sports programs that has not been an unusual occurrence.
