They are a very good team. Close at UCLA. Lost in OT at Stanford. RealTime shows them 43rd in RPI (OSU now 15th) out of 352 Div 1 schools. RealTime gamer predictions show Beavs losing 68 to 67 in a battle.
They hung with us into the 4th period last time we played.
For me, the inspiration for our win came at 2:06 in the 3rd quarter. Beavs up by 4. The 3 second sequence was: Mik: missed layup Mik: rebound Mik: missed layup Mik: rebound Mik: missed layup Mik: rebound Colorado foul Mik: makes both free throws Jack Nicklaus was asked his secret for staying focused on every shot on every hole over a 4 day tournament. He said he tried to play “cool-mad”. The cool was trusting his experience and ability. The mad was to force himself to stay focused “this is my shot, I’ve got this”.
Mik is (arguably) the best player on our team. She has that “cool-mad” attitude. And......There’s no quit in Mik.
Watch out Buffs, we’re coming to your house and we’re gonna stuff the ball down your.........basket!

I check Realtime often and always thought their predictions were pretty accurate. They seemed right on the mark over last season, for example This year not so much. This game feels like they might be ballpark though.
Massey Ratings has OSU over Colorado by 8 pts, 66-58, with a 75% chance of a win. Massey has OSU ranked #15 and Colorado #39. Warren Nolan has OSU by 10, winning 69-59, and odds of a win at 80%.
This game with Colorado makes me nervous, though I give a slight nod to OSU. Defensively Beavs will do well, but they need to get their mojo back offensively & Colorado is playing pretty decent. I think if OSU can shoot the ball fairly well they'll win the game. Helpful too to get some offense from the 4. If they continue the way they've been shooting the ball over the last couple weeks, then a road loss would not be surprising either.

What the Beavs are looking at on this week's road trip is what a friend called a "negative intersection."
By that he meant if you drive right thru it with no accident then everything pretty much stays the same and you head on down the road to the next intersection. On the other hand, if you hit a truck in this intersection things turn very negative very fast.... That's what we're looking at right now. Two wins keeps the intersection open and the team cruises thru "on schedule." A loss and the schedule is shot to hell....
Now "shot to hell" depends on what you were aiming for. At the beginning of this year the Beavs were hoping to win the Pac, but they also knew that realistically that was not going to happen -- so what they expected (not hoped for) was 2nd place.
In essence, that meant beating out Stanford for 2nd place....After the Beavs lost to Stanford at Gill the realistic expectations were lowered to a 3rd place finish....After two losses in the Civil War the general expectation is now again lowered to 4th place....But, still with a somewhat realistic hope for 3rd.....
Back to the "negative intersection." If the Beavs lose Thursday at Colorado they will have lost 5 of their last 6 and their "hoped for" conference finish will have sunk from 1st to possibly 5th....If they make it thru the weekend with 2 wins they will be back on schedule for a run at 3rd place in the Conference....
If the Beavs don't survive this week's "negative intersection" they're going to need a lot more fixing than anyone here imagined only 16 days ago when the Beavs were 15-0, and one win away from a No. # 1 national ranking....
So, that's my take on the upcoming road trip...We'd better cruise thru this negative intersection or we're in deep yogurt.. GO BEAVS !!

Does Colorado play the body up defense? That has seemed to bother us quite a bit. Mik is really frustrated with all the shots to her head & body. I can't blame her. That's not basketball.

Colorado will be rugged in Boulder on Thursday. The Buffs had 24 fouls called on them last Friday against Stanford in a game that they should have won in regulation. The Beavs need to bring a higher level of physicality to all of their remaining games. The refs won't call everything and usually the more aggressive (within reason) team is rewarded when 50/50 calls are made or the whistle is swallowed and no call is made.

What, are you folks thinking we're just going to mail in the rest of the season after the recent less than wonderful stretch? Not going to happen. We are decidedly better than Colorado, which is 3-5 in conference, and, a few days from now, will be 3-7.
We beat them by 12 just 3 1/2 weeks ago when they shot 31.9%. I expect a similar result Thursday night, after which I'll start a website, and you guys can cite my oh so wise prognostications.

Too bad those guys dont play the games, we do. And, the room for error now is pretty much ZERO..1 loss, and we may survive, 2 more and we're traveling to some hellhole as a 5 seed. Hosting I would think if we end up 5th or worse is NOT going to happen...I guess that means 1 more loss in pac12 play, and 1 loss in pac12 tournament.

OSU bench is outscoring the starters 23-14. Moving Goodman out of the starting lineup is looking like a good move.

Is anyone there to watch the game? That is a bunch of empty seats on the first level.

Aleah's point play is definitely better when she watches the first couple minutes from the bench. It is the coach in her.

Beavs playing the game the way that makes us happy fans. Using Aleah off the bench gives us a whole new definition of ‘depth’.
