In a number of years that bye did not seem to do OSU much good. I'd still much rather have it than not have it.

I certainly expect UCLA to lose some games. Between the Desert road trip, hosting the Oregon schools and visiting Stanford, there will definitely be some Ls. OSU is fighting w/ 3 teams for #3 in the conference though, it's not just UCLA.
As interesting as that 4 way battle is, the 5 teams fighting over #7-11 in the conference is pretty intriguing too. Several of them have had near misses against upper half teams but couldn't quite pull it off.

For the short term, our next opponent (Colorado) has been playing very well the past two weeks.

For the short term, our next opponent (Colorado) has been playing very well the past two weeks. Definitely true. Erased a big deficit and then came up just short against UCLA, gave up a last second bucket and then lost in OT to Stanford. Utah ran them off the floor in Boulder but the Utes were scorching hot behind the 3 point line (16-23).

Do we stay in the top 15 at this point? I can see, given the recent performances and record, that they might send us to 15 or Doesn't really matter, just wondering .. AP #10. A bit of a surprise to me...I figured more of a drop. Me too, don't understand that but again, doesn't really matter right now, as much as 2 or 3 more losses!! That would be a big problem I think..

They are losing close games with regularity. Also they do not seem to have the same competitive fire that some of Scott's previous teams have had. Hopefully this group understands that they have a lot of improving to do to even make the NCAA tournament. Ummm.....I think they are going to MAKE the tournament. Despite all of the 'regularity' of loses, they're still in National top 10 rankings (albeit 10th).... (and #14 RPI). PAC 12 got 6 bids last year (5 of which advanced to Sweet 16)...and this year PAC 12 is considered even stronger from a national perspective.

One game at a time. Prepare for a battle with Colorado on Thursday.

What this team needs is; a great recruiting class in 2021, AA to be able to play and fewer projects and more players that have immediate skills! We have too many players on the bench with 0 productivity.

What this team needs is; a great recruiting class in 2021, AA to be able to play and fewer projects and more players that have immediate skills! We have too many players on the bench with 0 productivity. In fairness to those charged with building the program, the projects they have brought in were Trish and Jelena (we think, since we've never seen her play). I don't think Andrea was considered as such. And I would point out that Jelena was a late sign, and that scholarship wasn't going to go to anyone else. Let's step back to last June. We were thinking Scott could be very deep with a 2 guard, 3 big lineup, or be very deep playing small. Then, as it turned out, we basically lose Jelena, Andrea, and Taya for the whole year, and Kat isn't ready to play as effectively as she did last year. Now the depth is gone, we're forced to start 2 freshman bigs and give them significant minutes and big roles, and we don't have the luxury of bringing both Aleah and Kat off the bench. It's a difficult situation, but not one that could have been foreseen when the 2018 and 2019 classes were being recruited. We do, however, definitely need a big recruiting year in 2021, both in quality and quantity. We lose 4 seniors this year, and Destiny and Aleah the following year. I'm going to project that Andrea is never going to play, and that Jelena will be redshirted this year. So where does that put us in 2021? Seniors will be Trish who I hope will be an adequate backup center at that time, Jasmine who I hope will be a steady guard, and Taya, who should start at one forward spot. Juniors will be Kennedy and Taylor, who should both be solid, and Noelle, who won't get many minutes. Sophomores will be Jelena, probably a project, Sasha, probably very solid, and Savannah- who knows how she'll be. So that's only 9 returning players and the only point guard among them isn't on scholarship. We need a bunch of freshmen - 4, or even 5 if we can get a good one (I'd rather have 4 freshmen and a graduate transfer) - and we need depth at every position. I have a good feeling about 2021 recruiting, though. My gut tells me we'll land at least three 5 star recruits - but I would understand if you were quick to point out that this is the same gut that told you for months we were going to get Van Lith. But, one of these years, we're going to get a monster class, and 2021 could well be it.
